Joey Haddad scored twice and Louis Domingue made 21 saves to lift the Gwinnett Gladiators to a 2-1 win over the South Carolina Stingrays on Saturday night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.
South Carolina struck first just 4:08 into the first period. Scooter Vaughn posted the goal as he took a centering pass and beat Gwinnett netminder Louis Domingue for the marker. Chris Langkow and Jay Silvia had the assists on the goal.
Haddad answered with the first of his two goals on the power play with 3:08 left in the first period. Haddad collected his 17th goal of the season as he took pass from Doug Jones in the slot and lifted a backhand through traffic and past Stingrays' netminder Ryan Zapolski for the goal. Sacha Guimond also had an assist on the power play goal.
Haddad's second came shorthanded just 31 seconds into the third period. He knocked a South Carolina pass down along the blue line, fought off a South Carolina defender before his backhand beat Zapolski over his shoulder for the goal. Haddad's 18th goal of the season came unassisted for Gwinnett.
