ELMIRA, N.Y. - March 23, 2013 - The Elmira Jackals and Fort Wayne Komets have split the first two games of their season series. Tonight they will play the rubber match at First Arena just 24 hours after the Jackals claimed a 5-2 win over Fort Wayne that clinched their sixth consecutive playoff berth.

The Jackals are facing the Komets tonight for the third, and final meeting this season and second of two at First Arena. The Jackals are 1-1-0 against Fort Wayne this season after their 5-2 win here last night. The Jackals' offense has thrived in its two games against Fort Wayne with five in each. Kyle Bushee has accounted for 30 percent of that offense with three goals in two games against the Komets. His 2G, 1A performance on December 29 was the second highest point total of his career. Fort Wayne is a tough team on the road with 17 wins, but they are 0-3-0 on the road in the Atlantic Division after last night's loss. They have also dropped games in Reading and Wheeling earlier this season.
With last night's win, and Kalamazoo's regulation loss to Toledo, the Jackals qualified for the Kelly Cup Playoffs for the sixth consecutive season. While they cannot chase down Reading for the division crown, they still can secure home ice advantage for the first round by finishing fourth. They currently lead South Carolina by a point for that spot. The Stingrays can earn a maximum of 86 points with their remaining schedule so Elmira's magic number to clinch fourth is six.
