Gladiators Make Three Roster Moves

Defenseman Corey Fienhage has been recalled by the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League. In a separate transaction, goaltender Marc Cheverie has been reassigned to the Gladiators from the Portland Pirates of the AHL by the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League. In addition, Spencer Bennett has been recalled by Portland.

Fienhage has earned eight points (three goals, five assists) in 19 games with the Gladiators this season. His eight points shares first among Gladiators blue liners in scoring this season.

A rookie this season, Fienhage earned 14 points (four goals, 10 assists) last season with the Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey League. He also appeared in four games with Portland of the AHL last year but did not register a point.

Cheverie was called up to Portland on November 15th and appeared in one game where he made 17 saves and posted a 4-2 win over the Adirondak Phantoms. Cheverie has posted a 2.47 goals against average and a .916 save percentage in seven games with Gwinnett. He has earned 2-1-4 record with the Gladiators this season.

Cheverie was acquired by the Coyotes on September 9th from the Florida Panthers in exchange for center Justin Bernhardt. The second year pro split time last season with the Cincinnati Cyclones and the Rochester Americans of the AHL. He recorded a 13-9-7 record and a 3.11 goals against average with the Cyclones and had a 2-7-1 record and an .886 save percentage with the Americans.

Bennett returns to Portland after he was assigned to Gwinnett on November 18th. He collected two assists in four games with Gwinnett. Bennett recorded his first professional goal with Portland on October 22nd against Providence. He has one goal in four AHL games this season.

He appeared in two AHL games last season with the Abbotsford Heat but did not register a point. Bennett spent a majority of the 2010-11 season in the Western Hockey League with the Vancouver Giants and the Portland Winterhawks. He earned 49 points (25 goals, 24 assists) in 35 games with Vancouver and had 21 points (12 goals, nine assists) in 37 games with Portland.

Cheverie should be available for the Gladiators for tonight's 7:05 p.m. tilt at South Carolina.

The Gladiators are the ECHL Affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres and the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League and are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
