
Gladiators Make Roster Moves

The Gwinnett Gladiators have signed forward Jake Drewiske. In a separate transaction, goaltender Marc Cheverie has been assigned to the Gladiators from the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League by the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League, and Gwinnett has traded goaltender Joe Palmer to Florida for future considerations. In addition, forward Bryan Brutlag has been called up to the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL.
Drewiske completed his senior season at St. Lawrence University where he served as team captain. He earned a career best eight goals and finished with 15 points in 36 games with the Saints in his senior season. In four seasons at St. Lawrence University, Drewiske earned 47 points (20 goals, 27 assists) in 132 career collegiate games.
Prior to St. Lawrence University, Drewiske skated three seasons with the Sioux Falls Stampede in the United States Hockey League from 2005-2008. He had eight goals in each of his final two seasons with Sioux Falls. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound forward earned 46 points (21 goals, 25 assists) in 156 career games in the USHL.
Cheverie returns to the Gladiators after he appeared in seven games with the Portland Pirates since he was recalled to the AHL on Janaury 16th. The Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia native earned a 2-3-0 record in his last stint in the AHL while he recorded a 3.99 goals against average and a .875 save percentage with Portland.
Cheverie has posted a 2.99 goals against average and a .904 save percentage in 15 games this season with Gwinnett. He has recorded a 4-3-8 record with Gwinnett this season. Cheverie was acquired by the Coyotes on September 9th from the Florida Panthers in exchange for center Justin Bernhardt. The second year pro split time last season with the Cincinnati Cyclones and the Rochester Americans of the AHL. He recorded a 13-9-7 record and a 3.11 goals against average with the Cyclones and had a 2-7-1 record and an .886 save percentage with the Americans.
Palmer earned a 6-4-0 record with Gwinnett in 11 games this season. He has notched a 3.39 goals against average and a .877 save percentage with Gwinnett after he was acquired from Reading on Janaury 28th. He began the season with Reading where he tallied a 5-6-3 record in 16 appearances this season with Reading. He earned a 3.16 goals against average and .916 save percentage with the Royals.
Brutlag makes his first trip to the AHL of his career. In his rookie campaign with the Gladiators, Brutlag has earned 43 points (18 goals, 25 assists) in 62 games. He ranks first among Gwinnett rookies in scoring this season.
The Lakeville, Minnesota native earned 60 points (21 goals, 39 assists) in 151 career collegiate games at RPI from 2007-2011. He had a career best eight goals at RPI during his senior season in 2010-11.
Gwinnett returns to action on Saturday at the Arena at Gwinnett Center at 7:05 p.m. as they host the Cincinnati Cyclones .
The Gladiators are the ECHL Affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres and the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League and are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
