Titans Acquire Akins from Chicago; Sign Armstrong

TRENTON, N.J. - The Trenton Titans announced the acquisition of forward Drew Akins from the Chicago Express and the signing of forward Mark Armstrong from St. Lawrence University.

Akins, 26, skated in 16 games with the Express this season, scoring one goal and recording 13 penalty minutes. The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder previously appeared in 13 games with the Gwinnett Gladiators in 2009-10 and 2010-11 after a four-year career at University of Minnesota-Duluth. With the Bulldogs, he served as team captain in 2008-09 and helped lead UMD to a WCHA championship that season.

Armstrong, 24, scored 25 points (13 goals, 12 assists) during his four years with the Saints. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound forward earned the reputation as a physical player. .

Prior to his career at St. Lawrence, Armstrong had an All-Star 2007-08 season with the New Jersey Hitmen, who play out of the Capital One Ice Vault in Wayne, scoring 28 points (11 goals, 17 assists) in 37 games to lead his team, as captain, to the EJHL championship

The Titans return home tonight, facing the Elmira Jackals Other remaining home games for the Titans include Florida (March 11), Reading (March 24), Elmira (March 28) and Wheeling (March 30).
