Goaltender Karel St. Laurent Returned to Reading

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that goaltender Karel St. Laurent has been assigned to Reading from the Providence Bruins of the AHL. In other transactions announced today, (i) goaltender Shane Davis has been released as the team's Emergency Back-Up Goaltender; and (ii) forward Dennis McCauley was added to the team's roster pursuant to ECHL Playing Rule 65 (b).

St. Laurent was recalled to Providence on March 2. He played in two games for the P-Bruins while on recall, playing 51:34 in substitution of starting goaltender Adam Courchaine on March 3. That night, he stopped fifteen of seventeen shots in a 5-2 loss to the Worcester Sharks. On March 4, St. Laurent started and played 27:56 allowing five goals on seventeen shots in a 6-3 loss for the P-Bruins to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. In four games with Providence this year, St. Laurent has compiled a record of 1-2-0 with a 4.33 goals against average and .864 save percentage. In eighteen games with the Royals this season, St. Laurent has gone 4-9-0-0 with a 3.84 gaa and .893 save percentage.

McCauley was traded to the Chicago Express on March 6 for the ECHL rights to defenseman Drew Paris. ECHL Playing Rule 65(b) relates to Exit and Entrance Physicals.

The Royals return to action tomorrow (Friday, March 9, 2012 @ 7:05 pm) when the Toledo Walleye visit the Sovereign Center for the final regular season match-up between the two teams. That night, the Royals and the Sovereign Center will host a 'Happy Hour' at the Corner Bar and Restaurant (6:00 pm - 7:30 pm). Friday's game night broadcast will start at 6:35 pm with the Red Robin Gourmet Burger Pre-Game Warm-up Show on ESPN Radio 1240 am in Reading.
