Rob Madore Signs with Chicago

Hoffman Estates, IL - The Chicago Express, proud member of the ECHL and proud affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, announced today that goaltender Rob Madore has signed with the club. In a separate transaction, F Drew Akins was traded to the Trenton Titans in exchange for future considerations.

Madore, 23, just wrapped up his senior season with the University of Vermont (NCAA). Over his four year tenure at Vermont, Madore played in 127 games, posting a 2.91 goals against average along with a .902 save percentage. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, native posted five shutouts from 2008-2012, including blanking his opponents four times during his sophomore season. His best statistical season came as a freshman, when he played 29 games with a .912 save percentage, 2.35 GAA, and a 15-10-4 record. Last season, Madore was named to the Hockey East All-Academic team.

The 5-10, 179 pound goaltender is no stranger to the Chicago area, as he competed for two straight seasons as a member of the Chicago Steel in the USHL. He played 83 games over those two seasons, and his second year, in 2007-08, he played in 44 games with a 21-16-5 record along with a 2.93 GAA and .912 save percentage.

The Express have also traded F Drew Akins to the Trenton Titans in exchange for future considerations. Akins skated in 16 games with the Express, striking for one goal and 13 PIM.

Chicago hits the road for the next two games, as they battle the Kalamazoo Wings at Wings Stadium on Friday, March 9, and Saturday, March 10. Chicago then returns home to take on the Nailers once again on Wednesday, March 14. The homestand continues against Toledo on Friday, March 16, and against the Trenton Titans on Saturday, March 17, and Sunday, March 18. Friday night is a Dollar Friday at the Sears Centre Arena, while on Saturday the Express will have St. Patrick's Day Festivities, including a game-worn-jersey auction after the game.
