March 11, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlanta Gladiators News Release
The Gwinnett Gladiators could not overcome a 2 goal deficit in a 2-1 loss on Friday night to the Louisiana IceGators at the Arena at Gwinnett Center as the Gladiators wore special tie dyed jerseys auctioned off following the game to benefit local children's charities.
Pascal Pelletier slipped past the Gladiatos defense and flipped the puck past netminder Adam Berkhoel to give Louisiana a 1-0 lead. Bryan Perez added an assist on the goal at 5:50 of the first period moving the puck up ice to Pelletier. Mark Rooneem also picked up an assist on the tally.
Despite being outshot 24-7 in the opening stanza, Louisiana was able to hold on to the one goal advantage through the first period and the two teams skated to a scoreless second stanza.
Louisiana posted the game winning goal 30 seconds into the third period on the power play as Wes Mason beat Berkhoel for the goal. Chris Thompson and Jim Shephard added the assists on the goal moving the puck into the Gladiators zone on the man advantage.
Chris Durno got the Gladiators within a goal late in the third period but the Gladiators could get no closer with a power play and Berkhoel pulled in favor of an extra attacker.
Cam Brown muscled the puck out from behind the net to a waiting Jeff Campbell wide open in the left wing face off circle to set up the goal. Durno found the rebound of Campbell's shot and ripped the puck past Louisiana netminder Kyle Kettles for the goal with just 35 seconds left in the contest.
Adam Berkhoel made 20 saves in the loss while the Gladiators outshot the IceGators 43-22 in the game but could not manage more than one goal.
