Phoenix RoadRunners News Release

PHOENIX – The new ECHL member in Phoenix on Friday announced that the nickname for the team would be the Roadrunners while also unveiling the jerseys for the team's inaugural season in 2005-06. The home, road and alternate jersey were all designed and created by licensed ECHL jersey supplier Reebok.

The team logo incorporates the traditional Rocky Roadrunner used by each of the previous versions of the Roadrunners from the Western Hockey League entry in 1967 to the International Hockey League club in 1997.

"The ECHL Phoenix Roadrunners will maintain a strong link to the tradition of Roadrunner teams of the past," said team president Claude Lemieux. "The logo is part of that tradition."

The home jersey has a white body trimmed with light blue, yellow and black stripes on each sleeve, around the neck and across the waist. The road jersey has a light blue body with white, yellow and black stripes on each sleeve, around the neck and across the waist. Both the home and the road jerseys have the primary Rocky Roadrunner logo. The alternate jersey is white with light blue trim around the neck and light blue and yellow stripes on each sleeve and around the waist. The alternate jersey features only the roadrunner head on its crest.

Persons interested in tickets for the Roadrunners can telephone (602) 462-GOAL.
