Lynx drop tough 3-1 decision to South Carolina

Marty Clapton's goal and two assists paced the South Carolina Stingrays to a 3-1 win over the Augusta Lynx Friday night at the North Charleston Coliseum.

Nate Kiser opened the scoring at 4:19 after a draw win from Joe Tenute to Marty Clapton, after which Clapton fed Kiser for the slap shot and a 1-0. Matt Reid would double the lead with his 23rd goal of the year from Tenute and Clapton at 7:52 to end the period 2-0 in favor of the Stingrays.

A scoreless second period gave way to a pair of power play goals in the third. Clapton would extend the Stingray lead to 3-0 at 9:04 from Reid and Carlyle Lewis. Finally, Louis Goulet put Augusta on the board at 16:15 from Eric Johansson and Ken Magowan for a 3-1 final. Justin Eddy made 29 stops to earn the win, while Jason Saal took the loss with 30 saves.

Augusta gets right back to action Saturday night at 7:35 pm against the Greenville Grrrowl. Pre-game show kicks off one half-hour before game time on your Home for Lynx Hockey, NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630.
