Royals Continue Playoff Tune-Up With Win Over Bombers

Reading, PA – The Dayton Bombers dropped a 5-3 decision the Reading Royals in front of 5,192 at The Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania Friday night. Defenseman Tom Galvin scored two goals for the victorious Royals.

The Royals opened the scoring with a powerplay goal from Tom Galvin at 3:26 of the first period. The Bombers tied the game, 1-1, just 56 seconds later when JUSTIN KINNUNEN scored his 7th goal of the season at 4:22.

Paul Cabana gave Reading a 2-1 lead with a powerplay goal at 3:51 of the second period. But just 52 seconds later BRETT NOWAK tied the game, 2-2, with his 17th goal of the season at 4:43. For the third time in the game, the Royals took the lead after a goal from former Bombers forward Preston Mizzi at 8:03. Bombers rookie defenseman TYLER SCOTT crashed the net and knotted the game, 3-3, with a powerplay goal at 17:39, and the teams were tied after 40 minutes. Dayton scored 3 goals on 9 shots through the first two periods.

The goal that proved to be the game-winner was scored by Mike Sandbeck at 6:11 of the third period. Galvin's second goal of the game at 14:39 capped the scoring, and the Royals posted the 5-3 victory. The Bombers were outshot 36-18 as Mike Ayers suffered the loss in goal for Dayton.

The Bombers return to action tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon when they travel to The Sovereign Bank Arena to face the Trenton Titans. Audio coverage begins at noon at daytonbombers.com.
