Atlanta Gladiators News Release

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have agreed to terms with goaltender Jon Horrell and have released forward Tim Hartung and Daniel Sullivan. Horrell will fill the vacated spot of Danny Taylor, who was recalled to AHL Syracuse.

Born in Beckenham, England, Horrell played parts of two seasons each with the University of Findlay and Bowling Green State University before making his professional debut with the CHL's Wichita Thunder during the 2006-07 season. He played one more season with Wichita before signing with the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs last season, where he appeared in 21 games and finished a 12-4-2 record with a 2.66 goals against average and .915 save percentage. Horrell makes his first appearance in the ECHL with the Gladiators.

Hartung was signed originally by the Gladiators on August 3 following his senior season at Northern Michigan University. Hartung's former teammate at Northern Michigan University, Blake Cosgrove, was also released earlier this week.

Sullivan, who played in 70 games and posted 164 penalty minutes with the Gladiators last season, was originally signed in August. He was released following his suspension for actions in a preseason game against Florida over the weekend.

The Gladiators open their 7th season in the ECHL on Saturday, October 17th and Sunday, October 18th against the Wheeling Nailers. The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and Columbus Blue Jackets and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
