Vancouver Giants News Release
Ladner, B.C. - The Vancouver Giants added two new US-born prospects to their organization on Wednesday morning when they selected 2009-born forward Boone Chartier and 2009-born defenceman Luke Storr.
With the 10th overall selection, the Giants picked Chartier (Minnetonka, MN), a 5-foot-10, 164 lb. forward that played last season for Shattuck-St. Mary's 14U AAA program. The right-shot winger registered 24 goals and 42 assists for 66 points in 57 games.
"Boone is a complete player with an exceptionally high ceiling," Giants U.S. Scout Ryan Sawchyn said. "He plays the game the right way. He is strong, skilled, and his compete level is at the top of this birth year. The little things that don't necessarily get on the scoresheet, but determine the outcomes, he excels at. He can play in all four corners and all situations. His game will translate so well at the next level. We're very excited for Boone and his future."
With the 32nd overall pick, the Giants selected Storr (El Segundo, CA) from the Los Angeles Jr. Kings 14 AAA program. The 5-foot-11, 205 lb. left-shot defenceman produced six goals and 25 assists for 31 points in 68 games in 2023-24. He was the highest scoring defenceman on his team.
"Luke is an outstanding addition to the Vancouver Giants," Sawchyn said. "His blueline presence is such an asset in today's game. He effectively transitions, moves pucks in the right reads and with accuracy. He has a high hockey IQ and is used in multiple situations because of it. Very defensively sound, with a big body and an offensive upside. Great attitude and leadership skills with a pro pedigree. Luke has a very bright future!"
Storr is the son of former NHL goaltender Jamie Storr, who played 219 career NHL games with the Los Angeles Kings and Carolina Hurricanes.
