
Oil Kings Select Two Players in 2024 U.S. Priority Draft

(Edmonton, AB) - The Western Hockey League 2024 U.S. Priority Draft took place Wednesday morning with the Oil Kings making two selections.
With their first selection, fifth-overall, the Oil Kings drafted 2009-born defenceman Matheas Hejda.
The 5-foot-10 , 135-pound left defenceman Chanhassen, Minnesota product spent the 2023-24 season with the Chicago Reapers 14U where he recorded 27 points (5G, 22A) along with 36 penalty minutes in 65 games played.
Hejda is the son of former NHL player Jan Hejda who spent time with the Edmonton Oilers, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Colorado Avalanche. Jan suited up for 627 games over his 9 year NHL career.
With their second selection, 27th-overall, the Oil Kings drafted 2009-born forward Brock Stevenson.
Stevenson spent time with both the Colorado T-Birds 14 and Okanagan HA (Colorado) 14U over the 2023-24 season picking up 75 points (38G, 37A) and 16 penalty minutes over 40 games played.
Players eligible for the 2024 WHL U.S. Priority Draft are 2009-born players who reside in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
Players not selected in the 2024 WHL U.S. Priority Draft will remain eligible to be selected in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft tomorrow Thursday, May 9, 2024, or listed by a WHL Club at any time thereafter.
