Victoria, B.C. - Saturday night in Victoria the Vancouver Giants (13-10-1-0) dropped a 5-2 decision to the Victoria Royals (8-11-2-0). The Giants sprinted out to a 2-0 first period lead, but surrendered five straight goals to the Royals who have now gone 7-0-2-0 in their last nine games. Justin Lies (3) and Ethan Semeniuk (4) had the goals for the Giants while five different forwards found the back of the net for Victoria. Will Gurski made 36 saves in defeat for the Giants while Tyler Palmer stopped 30 of 32 for Victoria. For Vancouver it marked their third straight loss.

1st Period:

VAN - Justin Lies opened the scoring for the Giants on a power play deflection at 3:52. Tanner Brown's point shot hit Lies in front and knuckle over the glove of Tyler Palmer. Connor Horning drew the second assist.

VAN - With 18.4 seconds left in the first, Ethan Semeniuk (4) extended the Vancouver lead to 2-0 when he tucked a backhand rebound past Tyler Palmer. Alex Cotton kept the puck in at the line, slid a pass to the right for Connor Horning. Horning's shot was denied, but Semeniuk was there to deposit the loose change.

Shots: 16-15 Victoria

2nd Period:

VIC - Evan Patrician (6) struck early in the second on a power play to put Victoria on the board. The over-ager deflected home a Kalem Parker point shot past Will Gurski. The time of the goal was 2:50.

VIC - Tanner Scott tied the game for Victoria on a breakaway. Scott's sixth goal came as a result of a Jason Spizawka pass. The second assist was credited to Luke Shipley.

VIC - With only five seconds left in the period, Bailey Peach found a loose puck in the right-wing circle off a faceoff tie and roofed a shot over Will Gurski's left shoulder. Peach's ninth was set up by Brayden Schuurman.

Shots: 14-5 Victoria

3rd Period:

VIC - Riley Gannon provided some insurance for Victoria in the later stages of the third period off a power play rebound, followed by a cross-ice feed through the slot. Tanner Scott and Jason Spizawka both netted the assists on Gannon's eighth.

VIC - Brayden Schuurman iced the game for the Royals with an unassisted empty netter at 19:13.

Shots: 12-11 Vancouver

- The Giants are 1-3 on the season against Victoria and are 1-1 against them on the road.

- With two assists on the night, Connor Horning recorded his fourth multi-point game of the season.

- The Giants have now surrendered 40-or-more shots against in five of their previous nine games.

- Despite the loss, the Vancouver Giants remain ranked fourth in the Western Conference standings.

- The Giants road record now sits at 7-5-1-0.
