Sacramento River Cats News Release

West Sacramento, Calif. - A strong day at the plate by catcher Ricardo Genovés was not enough to power the Sacramento River Cats (21-25) to victory, as they fell 10-4 to the first place Salt Lake Bees (26-20) on Orange Friday.

With two on in the second inning, Genovés got Sacramento on the board when he lined his third home run of the season 406 feet to left-center field.

Two innings later, Genovés plated his season-high fourth run of the game with a clutch two-out single to right field, knocking in center fielder Bryce Johnson for the second time.

Starting with a three-run home run by center fielder Monte Harrison, the Bees used a six-run second inning off left-hander Michael Plassmeyer (0-6) to take a commanding lead they would not relinquish.

The Bees added two runs in the fourth and fifth innings off right-hander Wei-Chieh Huang to put the game out of reach.

Right-hander Sean Hjelle (3-2, 6.00) looks to break the River Cats' three-game skid with a win on Saturday. He'll take on lefty José Suarez (1-0, 5.40) at 6:37 p.m. (PT). Watch Johnny Doskow and Brock Stassi call the game on CW-31, or listen to Greg Wong online at rivercats.com or on the MiLB First Pitch app.

Additional Notes

Left-hander Joey Marciano was excellent in 2.0 scoreless innings of relief, striking out two. Lefties are 2-for-19 (.105) against Marciano this season.

Right-handers Yunior Marte and Matt Carasiti followed Marciano, each striking out one in a scoreless inning.
