Generals Snap Losing Streak with Comeback Win

MOBILE, ALA. (AUGUST 22, 2011) - The Generals came back from a 4-1 deficit and defeated the Mobile BayBears Monday night at Hank Aaron Stadium, 5-4. Jackson scored two runs in the seventh and eighth innings to complete the comeback. The win snapped a season long seven-game losing streak.
Stephen Pryor pitched the final 1 2/3 innings to save the game for reliever Brian Moran (5-3) who worked a scoreless 2/3 of an inning. Mobile reliever Kyler Newby (8-2) took the loss.
Chih-Hsien Chiang had two doubles Monday and was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored. Chiang has three doubles and three RBI's in the series. Francisco Martinez, Nick Franklin and Vinnie Catricala joined Chiang with two hits. The Generals had five doubles and 12 hits in the game. Daryle Ward led Mobile with two doubles and two RBI's.
The Generals scored first, getting an RBI double from Chih-Hsien Chiang in the top of the second inning. Mobile though quickly responded with a homer from Taylor Harbin in the bottom of the inning and the game was tied, 1-1.
Mobile broke the tie on a 2-run double by Daryle Ward in the bottom of the fifth inning. The BayBears jumped ahead by the score of 3-1.
With Jackson trailing 4-1, Gabriel Noriega delivered a two out single that scored Chiang and Francison Martinez, trimming the Mobile lead to 4-3. Then, after the tying run scored on an error in the eighth, Vinnie Catricala doubled in Scott Savastano and Jackson took the lead for good 5-4.
The Generals continue their five-game series with the Mobile BayBears at Hank Aaron Stadium in Mobile, AL on Tuesday night. Game time is set for 7:05 pm. LHP James Gillheeney (0-3, 7.06) makes the start for the Generals against LHP Tyler Skaggs (3-1, 2.87) for the BayBears.
