BayBears Walkoff in 10th with Win Over Generals

MOBILE, ALA. (AUGUST 23, 2011) - Former Ole Miss standout Ed Easley drove in A.J. Pollock from third in the bottom of the 10th inning and Mobile defeated Jackson Tuesday night, 2-1. Each starter was brilliant Tuesday night but both received no decisions. James Gillheeney, the Jackson starter went 6 2/3 innings, allowing just one run on two hits. The #2 prospect for the D-Backs, Tyler Skaggs went nine innings for Mobile, giving up one run on two hits. The Generals are 7-8 in extra inning games this season.
Mike DeMark (2-2) picked up the win for Mobile and pitched a scoreless 10th inning for the BayBears. Edward Paredes (1-2) took the lloss for Jackson.
The Generals were held to just two hits on the night, a season low. Nick Franklin was 1-for-4 with his second homer of the season. Franklin has now hit in each of his first nine Double-A games.
The BayBears loaded the bases in the bottom of the third and scored first on a fielder's choice off the bat of Jake Elmore to shallow left field. Mobile took a 1-0 advantage.
Nick Franklin tied the game with a solo homer from the right side of the plate in the top of the fourth inning. The Generals and BayBears were knotted at 1-1.
Mobile loaded the bases in the ninth and Easley plated A.J. Pollock with a ground ball single to left scoring the game winning run. Mobile won 2-1.
The Generals continue their five-game series with the Mobile BayBears at Hank Aaron Stadium in Mobile, AL on Wednesday night. Game time is set for 7:05 pm. RHP Steven Hensley (3-7, 5.00) makes the start for the Generals against RHP Charles Brewer (4-1, 3.02) for the BayBears.
