Oshawa Generals News Release

The Generals continued their road trip Friday night, travelling to Mississauga to take on the Steelheads for their second game in as many nights. Oshawa was looking to get back in the win column after falling to the Petes 5-2 in Peterborough the night before.

Jacob Busch got things started early for the Generals, rushing up the right wing and throwing a casual shot on Chase Marchand. The shot beat the back-up goaltender short side giving Oshawa a 1-0 lead just three minutes and fourteen seconds into the opening frame. The first power play of the evening also went to the Generals after a boarding penalty was dealt to the Steelheads. Hunter Smith was parked in front of the net in perfect position to bury the power play marker to extend Oshawa's lead to 2-0. Another Generals power play saw Josh Sterk net one, pushing Oshawa's lead to 3-0. And they didn't stop there; Joe Manchurek was awarded a penalty shot he made no mistake on, bringing the Generals lead to 4-0 at the end of the first period.

Mississauga started the second with Spencer Martin in net in hopes of turning the game around. The Generals went down a man after an interference penalty on Brandley Latour that sent the Steelheads to their first power play of the second. It was Bobby MacIntyre who got the Steelheads on the board with his twelfth of the season on the power play bringing the score to 4-1 Generals.

Penalties were handed out to both sides at the five-minute mark of the third, which saw teams play some 4-on-4. As soon as the penalties expired Josh Sterk and Bobby MacIntyre dropped the gloves for a tilt. Man-advantages were traded back and forth for the remainder of the period with scoring chances coming both ways, but the score didn't change. The Generals held on to walk away with the 4-1 win.
