The Louisiana IceGators defeated the Texas Wildcatters 2-1 on a late 3rd period goal by David Bararuk. The Saturday night game from the Ford Arena in Beaumont was the only exhibition game for both teams

Louisiana came into the 3rd period with a 1-0 lead but was outshot by the Wildcatters 22-8 in the final 20 minutes. The score remained tied with less than two minutes remaining when Bararuk picked up a loose puck on the left wing, skated by the Texas defense and walked in alone on Davis Parley. The Texas netminder made a perfectly timed poke check but the puck bounced of Bararuk's shin pads into the net for the game winner.

There was no scoring in the second period despite 15 shots for Louisiana and 11 for Texas Rookie Jeff Harvey ended his pro debut with 13 saves on 13 shots

In the first period, with The IceGators on the power play, defenseman Josh Barker's shot from the blue line went through a Pascal Pelletier screen and deflected into the net past Wildcatter's net minder Davis Parley at the 10:53 mark. Assisting on the goal were Randy Dagenais and Mike Omicioli. The rest of the period was a slugfest with four fights taking place. Shawn Skiehar dropped the gloves twice along with individual bouts for Dennis Shiryaev and rookie Jake Gibson. The Wildcatters outshot Louisiana 9-8 through the first 20 minutes as rookie netminder Jeff Harvey was a perfect 9 for 9 in the net.
