Arizona Rattlers News Release

PHOENIX - Rattler wide receiver/defensive back Randy Gatewood has been named "Ironman of the Week" for the fourth time this season, the Arena Football League announced today.

Gatewood (6-0, 185 pounds), who was named "Ironman" for the month of March, made an impact on both sides of the ball during the Rattlers record-setting 75-28 win over the Las Vegas Gladiators on Friday night. Offensively, he caught five passes for 68 yards and four touchdowns. On defense, he recorded three tackles and a pass break up. He also recovered a fumble for a touchdown.

The 2003 "Ironman of the Year" has 81 catches for 1066 yards and 33 touchdowns this season. Defensively, he leads the team in tackles (61) and interceptions (3).

This marks the fifth time Gatewood has earned a weekly award and the sixth time a Rattler has earned one.

In addition to winning the same award in Weeks 6, 7, and 9, Gatewood also took "Offensive Player of the Week" honors in Week 11. Offensive specialist Damien Groce was named "Offensive Player of the Week" in Week 4.

The Arizona Rattlers close out the regular season when they head to the Pepsi Center to take on the Colorado Crush on Friday, May 12. The game, which is set to kick off at 6:00 p.m. PST, can be heard live only on www.azrattlers.com.
