Beckett.com AFL Collectible Player of the Week
May 9, 2006 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I) News Release
For the second time in three weeks, new Rush phenomenon Bobby Sippio turned in a six-touchdown performance. Because of that -- and for the third time this season -- Sippio has earned Beckett.com AFL Collectible Player of the Week honors.
On Saturday night against Utah, Sippio spearheaded an 84-48 torching of the Blaze that included 10 receptions, 217 yards and six touchdown grabs, including three in each half. Even more impressive was Sippio's stat line through three quarters -- nine catches, 216 yards and five touchdowns.
Sippio seemingly single-handedly has thrust the Rush back into the playoff hunt since being claimed off waivers in Week 10. In four game with Chicago, his third team in less than two seasons, Sippio has accounted for 32 receptions, 580 yards, 15 touchdowns and a shot of adrenaline the Rush desperately needed. A win Saturday night against Grand Rapids will ensure Chicago of its sixth straight postseason appearance.
