OVERVIEW: The Blaze three-game winning streak was snapped last weekend in Chicago as they suffered their worst defeat of the season 84-48 to the Rush. The Blaze head into the final weekend of the regular season in a battle of the 2006 expansion teams in the AFL. Things have not gone as planned for the Kansas City Brigade as they enter the game with the worst record in the league at 3-12, but look for bragging rights between the two teams. The Blaze need a win to secure a playoff spot. A loss will take the control out of Utah's hands as they will need Grand Rapids to lose to Chicago in order to sneak into the postseason. OS SIAHA BURLEY looks to break the expansion record for receptions and receiving touchdowns and the Blaze could break several other expansion records as a team. QB JOE GERMAINE, the starter at the beginning of the season, returned from injury last weekend and may play a role in this week's game.
THE SERIES: This will mark the first meeting between both teams. It will also mark the first meeting between both coaches.
WHAT'S AHEAD: The Blaze will play in a postseason game if they win the game this weekend and may be seeded anywhere between the No. 4 and 6 seeds.

LAST WEEK:
BLAZE BURNED BY CHICAGO, 84-48
Postseason Hopes Put on Hold Until Next Week
CHICAGO - The Utah Blaze (6-9) came into Saturday's game looking to clinch a playoff berth, but ended up leaving with an 84-48 loss to the Chicago Rush at the Allstate Arena.
"We were beat up front, plain and simple," said Blaze head coach-general manager DANNY WHITE. "We have our work cut out for us if we want to continue to play after next week."
Chicago (6-9) opened the scoring when QB MATT D'ORAZIO connected on an 24-yard scoring strike to OS BOBBY SIPPIO for a 7-0 lead. The Blaze's first drive ended with an incomplete pass on 4th-and-five.
The Rush then followed with a scoring drive of 39 yards to take a 14-0 lead when D'Orazio found Sippio on a 26-yard touchdown pass. The Blaze offense continued to struggle on the second drive, a fumbled snap by QB ANDY KELLY resulted in a 46-yard fumble return by WR/DB DEJUAN ALFONZO to give the Rush a 21-0 to end the first quarter.
The second quarter began with a Rush interception. Kelly's pass in the front of the end zone was tipped by OL/DL JOHN SIKORA into the waiting arms of DS MARVIN TAYLOR to stop the Blaze scoring drive. The Rush capitalized when D'Orazio found Sippio for the third time on a 40-yard connection to give Chicago a 28-0 lead.
Kelly threw his second interception when DS JEREMY UNERTL stepped in front of OS SIAHA BURLEY in the end zone to stop the Blaze on the first four drives.
D'Orazio then found WR/LB ETU MOLDEN on an 8-yard pass to give the Rush a 35-0 lead with 5:30 remaining in the first half.
Kelly finally got the Blaze on the board when he hit Burley on a 24-yard touchdown to make it 35-7 with 3:18 remaining in the first half. But, D'Orazio then connected on his fifth touchdown when he found Alfonzo on a 10-yard strike to give the Rush a 42-13.
WR/LB JUSTIN SKAGGS punched in a 1-yard rushing touchdown, but the extra point was blocked and returned WR/DB DENNISON ROBINSON for two points and gave the Rush a 44-13 lead. The Rush ended the first half with a 28-yard field goal by DAN FRANTZ, as the Blaze trialed 47-13 at the intermission.
The second half started with much of the same as Kelly was sacked for a safety and Sippio added another touchdown on the ensuing possession to make the score 56-13.
Chicago went on to outscore Utah, 37-35 in the second half to cruise to the American Conference victory.
The second half marked the return of QB JOE GERMAINE under center. It was Germaine's first game action since he broke the middle finger on his throwing hand in a victory against Nashville in Week 7.
Kelly finished completing 13-of-21 passes for 185 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Germaine finished completing 12-of-19 passes for 150 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. Burley led all Blaze receivers with 11 receptions for 138 yards and three touchdowns.
THE COACHES:
Utah - Danny White, 14th season
127-64 (.665) reg. season; 147-74 (.665) overall
0-0 career vs. Kansas City
White is currently in his 14th season as an AFL head coach and first with the Blaze. White has compiled a record of 147-74 and advanced to the AFL Playoffs in 12 of the previous 13 years (hasn't missed the postseason since 1992). Prior to joining the Blaze, White was the head coach of the Arizona Rattlers for 13 seasons (1992-2004). The AFL Hall of Fame coach has two titles (1994 and 1997) to his credit and has made five ArenaBowl appearances (1994, 97, 2002-04). During his last season in Arizona in 2004, White compiled a 13-6 record and made his third straight ArenaBowl appearance. White, won AFL "Coach of the Year" award in 1993. White officially became the head coach of the Blaze on April 21, 2005. He played quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys (1976-88) and helped lead the Cowboys to the postseason five times and won three NFC East titles during his tenure as starting QB. In his first year as a starter (1980), White set the club single-season record for touchdown passes (28) and then broke the record (29) in 1983. Those records still stand as the top two single-season marks in franchise history. He still owns eight Cowboy records and is the member of FOUR Halls of Fame (Arizona Sports, Arizona State, College Football and Arena Football).
Kansas City- Kevin Porter, 1st season
3-12 (.200) reg. season; 3-12 (.200) overall
0-0 career vs. Utah
Kevin Porter comes to the Kansas City Brigade with a reputation as one of the Arena Football League's finest young defensive minds, based on his experience of a five-year NFL playing career and coaching tenure in the Arena Football League and af2. In his first season as an AFL defensive coordinator, the VooDoo finished the season with the second ranked scoring defense in the AFL, surrendering only 721 points, the sixth ranked defense and the fourth ranked pass defense. Porter is the winningest coach in af2 history with a 45-27 record. The head coach of the Macon Knights from 2001-03 before joining the VooDoo, Porter took his team to the ArenaCup 2003 championship final game. Porter started his coaching career as head coach of the Pensacola Barracudas, in 2000. As an af2 head coach, Porter took his teams to the playoffs all four seasons. Porter started his coaching career as the defensive backs coach of the AFL Orlando Predators in 1999. A third round pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in 1988, Porter was a four-year starter at strong safety for the Chiefs, recording 290 tackles, six forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries during his five year NFL career, which he closed out with the New York Jets in 1992. Prior to being drafted by the Chiefs, Porter was a four-year starter at cornerback at Auburn, where he was named honorable mention All-America as a senior.

ARENA QB RATING: The debate has gone on for years in the AFL... Does the outdoor QB Rating really translate to the indoor game? In a game where possessions and completion percentage dictates whether you win or lose, we decided to come up with a different formula that puts more weight on "TD-INT ratio" and completion percentage and no emphasis on yardage. Here's how it works:
TD% = TDs divided by TDs + INT
ARENA QB FORMULA: Multiply the TD% by 2 and add the completion % and divide it all by 3.
Since the AFL is a different game, below is the current ranking of the top 10 QBs based on the rating system for AFL QBs:
QUARTERBACK COM% TDs INT TD % ARENA RATING*
Aaron Garcia, NYD 77.1% 32 4 88.9% 84.9%
Matt Nagy, GEO 70.9% 81 8 91.0% 84.3%

Kelly was released after a slow Brigade start and picked up by the Blaze on April 10th where he won his first three starts and was named Offensive Player of the Game in three games.
BLAZE AND BRIDAGE EXCHANGED LINEMEN: The Utah Blaze and Kansas City Brigade executed a trade of lineman back on March 23 as the Blaze aquired OL/DL AARON HAMILTON and MATT WALLS from Kansas City in exchange for OL/DL BRYAN HENDERSON. This will mark the return of Henderson to the Delta Center.
KANSAS CITY PLAYER TO WATCH:
OS JEREL MEYERS - OS JEREL MEYERS is a prime candidate for AFL Rookie of the Year honors as he leads all first year players in receptions and ranks third in both yards and touchdowns. In his first season out of LSU, Meyers has 115 receptions for 1,193 yards and a team-high 16 touchdowns.
HOME HEATS UP: The Utah Blaze currently are No. 3 in the Arena Football League in average attendance (15,304) and have drawn 107,130 fans in just seven games. The Philadelphia Soul (15,714 average) and Kansas City (15,558) are the two teams ahead of the Blaze.
