ONE FOR THE FANS
On paper, it appears that the Orlando Predators have little to play for. As Southern Division champions, the team has secured a first round playoff bye and home game for the quarterfinals. At 12-3, Dallas can not be caught for the best record in the conference, so the question is raised...what do the Predators (10-6, 6-1) have to play for in this weekend's season ending game with the Austin Wranglers (9-6, 4-3)?

"We owe one to our fans," Predators head coach Jay Gruden said. "I do not want to go into the playoffs on a losing note and we owe it to our fans - the ones who have supported us all season long - to give them a great effort on Friday night."
While the Predators may rest quarterback Joe Hamilton, Gruden said he has the utmost confidence in back-up Jake Eaton. "He's ready to play and I am looking forward to see what he can do in this situation," Gruden said. "A back-up quarterback is always one play away from becoming a starter, so we need to get him some meaningful snaps anyways."

Friday night is fan appreciation night. The first 4,000 fans attending the game will be presented with a team poster, compliments of Mercury Printing and Promotions, Hummer, Sports Specific and Jewett Orthopaedic. Fans will have an opportunity to get the poster signed during the Predators post-game autograph session. Tickets remain available by calling for 407-44-PREDS.

THE COACHES
PREDS HEAD COACH JAY GRUDEN
Fifteen seasons in the Arena Football League. Fifteen seasons in the playoffs. Seven trips to the ArenaBowl. Six championship rings. An average of 10.8 wins per season. Whether as a head coach, player or offensive coordinator, Jay Gruden's name has been synonymous with success in the Arena Football League.

Gruden began his AFL career as a quarterback with the Tampa Bay Storm in 1991. A two-time All- Arena selection and the 1992 MVP, he led the Storm to six consecutive playoff appearances and an unprecedented four ArenaBowl titles under three different head coaches.

At age 30, he became the youngest head coach in the Arena Football League when the Orlando Predators hired him to replace the legendary Perry Moss - who retired after nearly 50 years in the coaching profession. Gruden's impact on the Predators was immediate. After a 9-5 regular season mark, Gruden guided the Predators to a pair of playoff wins to set up an ArenaBowl match-up with top-seeded Tampa Bay. Although the Storm came into the game with a 14-2 record and were prohibitive 14-point favorites, Gruden delivered Orlando 's first ArenaBowl championship with an incredible 62-31 win over the Storm.

During the next two seasons he would continue to set league history. Gruden became the first AFL coach to take a number eight seed to the ArenaBowl as Orlando recorded stunning road upsets in 1999 over top-seeded Tampa Bay (41-19) and second-seeded Iowa (48-41). The following season, the Predators started 7-0 and finished the 2000 campaign with an 11-3 record, capturing the second seed for the playoffs and winning a second ArenaBowl title.

In one of the most unusual moves in AFL history, Gruden announced his resignation as head coach of the Predators to return to the playing field as Orlando's quarterback after the 2001 season. In two years as Predators quarterback, Gruden compiled an impressive 20-9 record as a starter. Gruden returned to the Predators sideline as Head Coach and Director of Football Operations in July 2003. In his first season back, Gruden directed the Predators to his third 10-win season and upped his career record to 53-30-0 (.639) as an AFL head coach. In 2005, the Predators won 10 games again.

For his AFL career, Gruden has posted some truly remarkable numbers. As a head coach, he is 74-42-0 (including a 10-5 mark in 2006) and ranks in the top 10 overall in coaching wins and winning percentage. He is one of only five AFL coaches with two or more ArenaBowl championships. In the playoffs, his 9-4 mark as a head coach ranks in the top five all-time in victories and winning percentage. As a quarterback, he ranks in the top ten with more than 20,000 passing yards and close to 400 touchdowns. He won 15 of 19 post-season starts with 4,761 passing yards and 77 touchdowns. Gruden was 84-25 (.770) as a starting quarterback. That mark, combined with his 10-5 record as Nashville's offensive coordinator and his 74-41 record as head coach, takes Gruden's all-time Arena Football League record to 168-72 (.700). As a player, assistant coach or head coach, Gruden has never failed to lead his team to the playoffs.

WRANGLERS HEAD COACH SKIP FOSTER
Now in his third season, Skip Foster serves as head coach and offensive coordinator for the Austin Wranglers. Including a 9-6 start this season, Foster has compiled an overall coaching record of 23-24-0 with the Wranglers. Prior to joining the Wranglers, Foster served as head coach of the Tulsa Talons of the "arenafootball2" league in 2003, where he captured a league championship and recorded a 13-3 regular season record. Prior to coaching Arena Football, Foster compiled an 82-39-2 record at Coffeyville Community College in 12 seasons as head coach. His 1990 team recorded an undefeated season and captured a national championship.

*Austin joined the Arena Football League in 2004 and promptly shocked AFL powerhouse Orlando with a 49-48 overtime road win in its first game ever played...the Predators tried to win the game in overtime, but Joe Hamilton was ruled out of bounds as officials claimed his right foot hit the sideline dasherboard as he was stretching the ball over the goal line.

*Orlando had little trouble in the re-match in 2004, dominating both sides of the line of scrimmage in a 43-26 win...Cory Fleming had 147 yards receiving in the first game.

*The Predators also took the first game against Austin in 2005, winning 51-21 in Orlando...Orlando gave up a 55-yard touchdown return to Tacoma Fontaine on the game's first play and then held the Wranglers scoreless for the next 36 minutes - building a 37-7 lead...Joe Hamilton completed 22 of 26 passes (84.6%) of his passes in the win.

*Austin evened the series with a 56-42 win over the Predators in Week 16 of the 2005 season. The Predators faced the Wranglers without starting quarterback Joe Hamilton, who missed the game with an injury. Back-up Chris Sanders had a horrible night, completing just 13 of 37 passes. Orlando fell behind 43-21 in the game, but fought back to 49-42 and had a chance to tie with a defensive stop, but Jerrian James fumbled Todd Siever's missed field goal attempt and Dane Krager recovered and returned it five yards for a touchdown in the closing moments for the win.

*Orlando took a 3-2 series lead with a convincing 47-37 win in Austin on Mar. 18 of this year. Orlando overcame a 31-33 deficit in the fourth quarter, scoring 21 unanswered points to take a 47-31 lead with 10 seconds remaining.

*As with most teams in the Arena Football League, Austin's roster features former Predators players in lineman Angel Rubio and DS Damon Mason. Mason currently leads the Arena Football League with nine interceptions.

*The visiting team has won three of the five games played in the series.

PREDS PLAYING BEFORE CAPACITY CROWDS
With 15,920 tickets sold against Tampa Bay on April 22, the Orlando Predators recorded their 32nd hard sellout in franchise history and their first since ArenaBowl XIV in 2000. It was also the fifth largest crowd in Predators history. The team sold the last remaining tickets approximately 30 minutes prior to kickoff. Orlando currently covers several view-restricted upper bowl sections and considers 13,692 to be a "soft-sellout." When demand dictates it, the team will uncover and sell those sections, making 15,920 the new capacity. For seven home games, the Predators are averaging 13,822 fans, 100.9% of the "soft-sellout" capacity of 13,692. For this week's game with Austin, the Predators have sold more than 12,397 tickets as of 12 Noon on Monday.

IS THIS THE SAME TEAM???
It seems like there is no middle ground when it comes to the Orlando Predators defense in 2006. They have either played extremely well or have been extremely porous in recording a 10-5 record this season. Nine times this season, the Predators defense has held an opponent to under 42 points or less in a game. During those nine games, the Predators have recorded a perfect 9-0 record and have allowed just 33.7 points per game - more than 14 points per game under the league average of 48 points per game. But when the Predators defense has been porous, things change dramatically. In the other six games, the team has allowed 389 points, an average of 64.8 points per game and has recorded a 1-5 record in those games.

PREDATORS TOUGH AT HOME
Coming into the 2006 season, Predators head coach Jay Gruden noted that protecting the home field and getting at least a split on the road would be a key to a successful season. Orlando followed that script almost to a T...winning six of seven at home and recording a 4-4 road record. Only a loss to Dallas has marred the Predators home record this season, where the Predators continue to dominate. Counting a 6-1 (.857) mark this season, Orlando has won 18 of their last 20 home games (.900) and 89 of 123 home games (.724) since joining the Arena Football League in 1991. The Predators have the best record at home this season at 7-1; while its 4-4 road record ties for the fourth best record in the league. It should also be noted that the Predators are 12-3 in their final home game of the regular season and a perfect 7-0 when the last game of the regular season is at home.

CONSISTENCY RULES - PREDS KEEP STREAKS ALIVE
The Predators clinched a playoff berth to keep alive three of the most impressive steaks in Arena Football League history. Orlando has now qualified for the AFL playoffs for 15 consecutive years, tying Tampa Bay for the longest streak in league history. With a 10-5 record, Orlando has already guaranteed that they will finish the 2006 season with an overall record (regular season and playoff games combined) of above .500 for a league-record 15 consecutive seasons. The Predators have also guaranteed that they will finish the regular season with a .500 or better record for a 15th consecutive season.

PREDS CONTINUE TO RUN THE ROCK
With 41 net rushing yards against Kansas City last week, the Predators upped their rushing average 33.3 yards per game, which is good for second place in the Arena Football League behind Las Vegas' 33.9 yards per game. With just one regular season game remaining, it becomes highly likely that the Predators will finish in the top three in rushing for a 12th time in the team's 16-year history. Should the Predators surpass the Gladiators, they would capture their second rushing championship in the last four years and their third title since 1997.

GRUDEN MOVES PAST GREGORY; TRIGG NEXT ON LIST
Now in his seventh season as head coach and director of football operations, Jay Gruden picked up his 74th win last week against Kansas City - moving him past former Iowa/New York coach John Gregory for eighth place on the all-time Arena Football League (Gregory was 73-57 in 10 seasons). In winning 70 of his first 111 games, Gruden was also the sixth fastest to 70 wins in AFL history. Next on the list for Gruden is former Grand Rapids and Philadelphia Soul head coach Mike Trigg, who is seventh on the all-time list with 80 victories. Gruden can surpass Trigg in the first half of the 2007 regular season. HAMILTON BREAKS SINGLE SEASON AND CAREER MARKS FOR PASSING YARDS
In a little less than three seasons with the Orlando Predators, quarterback Joe Hamilton passed two milestones last week, becoming the franchises all-time leader in career passing yards and also surpassing Jay Gruden as the all-time single season leader in that category. Hamilton was hot against Kansas City, completing 18 of 22 passes (81.8%) for 175 yards and five touchdowns. The totals gave 9,830 passing yards for his career - surpassing Pay O'Hara's career total of 9,676. The passing totals from Kansas City also gave Hamilton 3,677 passing yards for the season - breaking Gruden's single season mark of 3,621. It's high unlikely that Hamilton - who has started every game this season but is banged up with shoulder injuries - will break Gruden's record for single season touchdown passes or become the first player in Predators history to hit 4,000 yards passing in a single season. Through 15 games, Hamilton has 64 touchdown passes and 3,677 passing yards, but he is only scheduled to play one or two series in Friday's season finale as the Predators hope to rest him for the playoffs. Here is where Hamilton stands on the career and single season passing after this past weekend:

With 82 catches for 1024 yards and 72 for 952 respectively, both Jimmy Fryzel and rookie Javarus Dudley are on pace to gain 1000 or more yards receiving this season. If they accomplish it, they would become just the fourth Predators combination to accomplish that feat. Dudley is also on pace to finish the regular season with 1,031 receiving yards. PREDS HAVE FOUR ON PACE FOR 600; STATS MATCH WORLD CHAMPIONS OF 2000
For the first time in Orlando Predators history, the Predators have four different receivers on pace to catch 600+ yards of passes in a single regular season. Jimmy Fryzel (82-1024), Jerrian James (62-820) and Javarus Dudley (72-952) have already reached the mark; while DeAndrew Rubin (46-588) is on pace to finish with 633 yards. The closest the Predators have ever come to having four receivers finish with 600+ yards each came in 2000, when Clif Dell (36-434) came up 166 yards short of joining Bret Cooper (55-881), Ty Law (55-769) and Joe Douglass (53-601) as members of the 600 club. It is interesting to note that with his first catch last week, DeAndrew Rubin hit 40 receptions for the season, giving the Predators four players with 40 or more receptions in a single season for the first time ever. Should Rubin catch four or more passes this week, Orlando would finish with four receivers with 50 or more catches. It is believed that has happened just two other times in Arena Football League history. Here are stats through Week 15 for Orlando's "Fab Four".

Player C/Yards Projected Finish
Fryzel 82-1024 1103
Dudley 72-952 1031
James 62-820 874
Rubin 46-588 633

HAMILTON'S MOST ACCURATECAREER PASSER, RECORDS 8th BEST NIGHT IN TEAM HISTORY
Quarterback Joe Hamilton completed 81.8% (18 of 22) on Saturday night against Kansas City - recording the 8th best completion percentage in Orlando Predators history. Only a fabulous play by linebacker Byron Douzart - who made an incredible leaping interception in the second quarter - kept Hamilton from recording a near perfect night. But an accurate passing night is nothing new for the former Georgia Tech and Heisman Trophy runner-up. In three seasons, Hamilton's current career completion percentage of 66.6 is more than five percentage points higher than any Predators quarterback in franchise history.

WHERE'S THE LOVE??
Despite winning the difficult Southern Division and tying New York and Colorado for the second best record in the Arena Football League, the Predators have yet to have a played named to a league-wide weekly or monthly award. This is the first season since joining the league that the Predators have failed to have at least one athlete earn either recognition as either "Offensive," "Defensive" or "Ironman" of the week. Still, the Predators are hopeful that several players will receive season-long recognition and list the following candidate for end-of-season awards:

AL LUCAS AWARD-PREDATORS NOMINEE KENNY MCENTYRE
The Predators nomination in this category is DS Kenny McEntyre. In addition to a standout season on the field (leading the team in tackles, four interceptions and 16 pass break-ups), McEntyre has been extremely active in off-field activities, including: PREDS LOOSE IN ZOO
Kenny was one of half a dozen Orlando Predators who volunteered a weekend of personal time to attend and participate in "Preds Loose in the Zoo," a promotion jointly conducted with the Central Florida Zoo. McEntyre spent two days helping to collect school supplies at the front gates of the zoo and also appeared in a public service spot promoting the event. Through the efforts of McEntyre and the other players, the Predators were able to donate several thousand dollars worth of school supplies to needy Central Florida school children. US ARMY BOOT CAMP
K-Mac was one of four Orlando Predators players to volunteer to visit three different area schools as part of the Arena Football League/US Army's Boot Camp initiative to stress team work and education. KENNY McENTYRE'S GOLF FOR THE GULF Kenny created, directed and sold out a charity golf tournament for Hurricane Katrina relief. He successfully got the course donated and sold out a 72-man tournament, raising close to $10,000 for Hurricane relief in Gulf States and New Orleans. As a side note, he also collected food, clothing, and water at the event which was also donated to hurricane relief. CAREER DAY
Kenny McEntyre visited several Orange County schools in November as part of Orange County's Career Days event. He also visited two other schools in November, participating in a youth reading program. OPERATION SANTA KLAWS
Working with Orlando Predators Foundation Director Sylvia Bova, Kenny McEntyre and Jimmy Fryzel created Operation Santa Klaws. The players started by making personal donations and then collected additional funds from Predators players, coaches and administrators. They then solicited additional donations of needed items, including television sets, VCRs, bedding, and other needed household goods. Armed with the funds, McEntyre and Fryzel then shopped for toys. On Thursday before Christmas, the players made a surprise visit to the Salvation Army's Home for Women and Children (a home for abused, abandoned and homeless women and children) and provided a Christmas to remember for about 25 kids and their mothers. Estimated value of toys and other items collected by McEntyre and Fryzel was close to $5,000.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF YEAR-Predators Nominee JOE HAMILTON
After a relatively slow start, Hamilton has been on fire over the second half of the season, recording a 7-1 record in his last eight games. Hamilton has completed 67% of his passes and set Orlando Predators franchise records for single season and career passing yardage.

AFL COACH OF THE YEAR - Predators Nominee JAY GRUDEN
In a year after the Predators lost its best receiver (Cory Fleming (96-1089-33 TD), a top fullback (Rupert Grant), two outstanding defensive specialists (Damon Mason and Johnnie Harris), it's top lineman (EJ Burt - 24.5 sacks in three seasons), solid performers in WR/DB Michael Brown, WR/DB Reggie Doster, WR/DB Bret Cooper, and OL/DL Buck Gurley, Gruden simply put together a team that features 17 players with less than three years experience (including six rookies who are regular contributors) and proceeded to record a 10-win regular season for the third consecutive season and fourth time in his seven-year career. Gruden, who ranks in the AFL top 10 in careeer wins, post-season winning percentage, has made seven consecutive trips to the playoffs, went to three ArenaBowls and has captured a pair of titles, has never won the award.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Predators Nominee JAROID JOHNSON
Although he has missed four games with a hamstring tear, Jaroid Johnson has had an outstanding year for the Predators. He is expected to return to action this week and add to his season stats, which include a team-high five interceptions with 22 pass break-ups.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF YEAR/LINEMAN OF YEAR - Predators nominee HENRY TAYLOR
Taylor leads the Arena Football League with 8.5 quarterback sacks, one sack off of EJ Burt and Rupert Grant's club record of 9.5 sacks.

KICKER OF THE YEAR - Predators nominee JAY TAYLOR
The 2004 winner of the award, Taylor ranks near the top ion practically every kicking category. He ranks third in the league in kicking points (129), third in field goal percentage (63.6), and 4th in field goals made (14).

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR- Predators nominee JAVARUS DUDLEY
Although he has not played in three of the team's 15 games, Javarus Dudley has established himself as one of the top new players in the Arena Football League. In 11 games, he has caught 72 passes for 952 yards and 13 touchdowns. He is a threat to run the ball 20-61-3 TD, and can play both "jack" linebacker and corner. Has been described by Head Coach Jay Gruden as a "faster, stronger Brett Cooper," who earned All-Arena honors for the Predators in 2000.

RUSHING DEFENSE NOT THAT BAD EITHER
While an earlier note talked about the Predators success rushing to ball, it is also interesting to note that Orlando ranks as the toughest team in the league to run against inside the red zone. To date, the Orlando Predators rank 4th in the league in rushing defense, allowing just 15.4 yards per game. But once a team gets inside the red zone, Orlando is even tougher. Through 15 games the Predators have allowed a league-low 10 rushing touchdowns and are the only team in the league that has given up 10 or fewer rushing touchdowns this season. Here are the lists:

Few Rush TD Allow Most Rush TDs Allow
Orlando 10 Kansas City 35
Philadelphia 13 Georgia 29
Utah 17 Colorado 29
Columbus 17 Grand Rapids 29

JERRIAN JAMES 7th IN ALL-PURPOSE
Averaging 134.9 yards per game, Orlando Predators WR/LB Jerrian James ranks 7th in the league in all-purpose yards at 2,204 yards. That total is the fifth highest in Orlando Predators history. James will need 44 yards in the final game to surpass Travis McGriff (2003) for fourth place on the all-time list.

THAT NAME LOOKS FAMILIAR
In a look at this week's Arena Football League stats, it is interesting to note that three of the top nine leaders in interceptions have spent at least part of their career with the Orlando Predators.

Name Int. Rank With Preds
Rashad Floyd 10 3rd 2002-03
Damon Mason 8 T-4th 1998-01,
2004-05
Johnnie Harris 6 T-9th 2005

TAYLOR CLOSES TO WITHIN ONE
With a quarterback sack last week against Kansas City, OL/LD Henry Taylor brought his season total to 8.5. Not only does he lead the Arena Football League in that category, but Taylor also moved into third place tie with EJ Burt (8.5 - 2005), on the Orlando Predators all-time single season list, behind Rupert Grant (9.5 - 2004) and Burt (9.5 - 2003). It will not be easy for Taylor to take over the lead, however, as this week's opponent Austin has allowed a league-low two sacks all season long.

PINNACLE FINANCIAL SIGNS NEW THREE YEAR AGREEMENT WITH PREDATORS
Pinnacle Financial Corporation, one of the nation's largest independently-owned mortgage lenders, has signed a new three-year marketing and promotional agreement with the Orlando Predators of the Arena Football League. The agreement replaces an earlier sponsorship signed prior to the 2005 season.

The new partnership will cover the 2006-2008 seasons and will give Pinnacle Financial print, broadcast and promotional exposure both inside and outside of the TD Waterhouse Centre during the Orlando Predators season. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

"Pinnacle Financial is a national company with local roots," Doug Long, CEO said. "As we grow, we believe it is important to stay connected to the Central Florida community. The extension of our partnership with the Predators will allow us to meet this goal and will also give our company and its products exposure to the thousands of Arena Football League fans in Central Florida."

Among the more notable elements of the agreement is signage that will cover the entire width of the end zone. It is the first time that the Predators have sold the entire end zone to a single sponsor. The popular "Pinnacle Financial Kick To Win" promotion, where a fan will be chosen at each Predators home game and be given a chance to kick a field goal from midfield at the 25-yard-line for a $100,000 down payment towards a new home will continue under the new agreement.

"We are thrilled to have Pinnacle Financial extend and enhance their corporate partnership with the Orlando Predators," Predators President Brett Bouchy said. "They are one of the top companies based in Central Florida and remain a valuable partner to our team."

In addition to the new end zone signage, advertising aspects of the revised agreement include a sideline dasherboard and signage on the top of both sideline dasherboards running the full length of the playing field. In addition to the signage elements, the company will also sponsor monthly networking luncheons.

Pinnacle Financial offers residential mortgages through its branch network and Tampa-based call center. As a direct lender, Pinnacle Financial uses its own resources to process, underwrite and fund its own loans. With total control and decision making abilities at each of its offices, Pinnacle Financial is able to provide fast, efficient and affordable financing to its customers.
