New York Dragons quarterback Aaron Garcia underwent successful surgery on Wednesday to repair his fractured right leg. The three-hour procedure was performed by Dragons team orthopedist Dr. Michael Schwartz and Islanders team orthopedist Dr. David Gazzaniga at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset.
Garcia, recently voted as the 11th greatest player in the history of the Arena Football League, will be sidelined for the remainder of this season.
The Dragons host Columbus at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Friday at 7:30 pm. Juston Wood, a rookie out of Portland State, will be the first quarterback other than Garcia to start a game for the Dragons since May 3, 2003.
