ORLANDO, Fla. (March 2, 2006) -- Looking to add quality depth to its defensive line, the Orlando Predators signed NFL veteran Cleveland Pinkney on Tuesday.

Pinkney, 6-1, 300, spent a total of five seasons in the NFL. He began his career as an undrafted free agent of the Indianapolis Colts in 2001. He played the 2002 season with the Berlin Thunder of NFL-Europe, recording 24 tackles. Pinkney then went to camp with the San Francisco in 2002.

After being waived in the pre-season, Pinkney signed and spent the entire 2003 season with the Tampa Bay Bucs. Spending 13 weeks on the active roster, he played in four games for the Bucs and recorded four tackles with one quarterback sack. He was waived in the 2004 pre-season and signed by the Carolina Panthers, where he would play in five games and be credited with five solo tackles.

Pinkney went to camp with the Seattle Seahawks this past year.

"I've been waiting to get Cleveland Pinkney in a Predators uniform for about four years," Predators head coach Jay Gruden said. "He has a great work ethic and an outstanding motor. In addition, Cleveland has been coached by one of the best line coaches in the NFL in Rod Marinelli. I think he has the ability to step in and help our team immediately."

Pinkney played college football at Copiah-Lincoln Junior College, before transferring to South Carolina (1999-2000). In two seasons with the Gamecocks, Pinkney started 21 games, recording 85 tackles with two forced fumbles, 3.5 quarterback sacks, an interception, and fumble recovery.

To other roster moves, the Predators activated Kevin Johnson from injured reserve and then released him and also released WR/LB Scott Cloman.
