Utah Blaze News Release

SALT LAKE CITY - The Arena Football League Office announced Utah Blaze OS SIAHA BURLEY (6-0, 185, Central Florida) as Offensive Player of the Month for February.

Burley currently leads the AFL in scoring (102), touchdowns (17), all-purpose yards (1,003), receptions (54) and receiving yards (771). Utah is 2-3 and leads the Western Division.

"This is a tremendous honor," Burley said. "This is an award that wasn't earned alone. My teammates and coaches were all a part of this and hopefully we will continue to play together toward the common goal of winning an ArenaBowl title."

The 2005 AFLWA Offensive Player of the Year will look to establish some new expansion records in 2006. Burley, who had 117 receptions for 1,542 yards and a league-leading 45 touchdowns last season, figures to re-write the record books.

The expansion records Burley will be chasing are held by former Detroit Fury OS ROBERT GORDON, who tallied 125 receptions for 1,630 yards and 42 touchdowns in 2001. Burley is currently on pace to record 173 receptions, 2,467 yards and 54 touchdowns - all would be AFL records.

Other monthly winners included: Dallas Desperados WR/DB WILL PETTIS (Ironman), Austin Wranglers DS DAMON MASON (ADT Defensive), Georgia Force rookie DS CHRIS BROWN (Rookie) and Los Angeles Avengers kicker REMY HAMILTON (Kicker).

The Utah Blaze will host the two-time champion San Jose SaberCats (1-4) at the Delta Center this Saturday, March 4 at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on FSN Utah (LIVE), as well as on 1280 The Zone.
