Chesapeake Baysox News Release

Trenton, N.J. - The Baysox committed four errors and managed only five hits as right-hander Christian Garcia and the Thunder shut out Bowie 7-0. Troy Patton was dealt his second loss of the season as the Baysox were shut out for the second consecutive game and third time in the five-game series.

Trenton got on the board in the third inning thanks to an error by catcher Adam Donachie. With runners on first and second and nobody out, Seth Fortenberry attempted to sacrifice the runners over with a bunt. Donachie's throw went wild, allowing a run to score and putting runners on second and third. One batter later, Noah Hall brought home the second run of the inning on a sacrifice fly to right. Both runs in the inning were unearned.

The Thunder tallied another run in the fourth as Edwar Gonzalez doubled off Patton to start the inning. After advancing to third on a groundout, Gonzalez scored on a fielders' choice off the bat of Marcos Vechionacci. They would add another run in the fifth on Justin Snyder's third home run of the season. Patton would finish his day after 7.0 innings, allowing four runs (2 ER) on seven hits while walking one and striking out seven.

Garcia remained in control of Baysox hitters all day, allowing four hits in 7.0 innings of work while walking two and striking out six. The Trenton right-hander also induced two ground ball double plays. The Baysox went 0-7 with runners in scoring position on the day and hit .133 (4-for-30) with RISP in four losses during the series.

Trenton would add three runs in the eighth inning off Baysox left-hander Chad Thall. Jesus Montero and Gonzalez walked to start the inning and Kyle Anson reached on a fielders' choice to load the bases. Vechionacci lifted a sacrifice fly to center, plating Montero. Fortenberry followed with a grounder to second, but Miguel Abreu threw wide of second base allowing Gonzalez to score and Anson to advance to third. Reegie Corona followed with an RBI single to put Trenton on top by seven.

Left-hander Michael Dunn worked the final two innings for Trenton, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out three. The Baysox leave Trenton dropping four of five, committing ten errors in the series while being shut out over the last 18.0 innings of play.

The Baysox will travel back home as they open up a four-game set with second place Erie. RHP Sean Gleason (3-3, 6.31) takes the mound for the Baysox tomorrow against Erie RHP Luis Marte (3-5, 4.39).
