Tonight
The Highway 11 rivalry concludes this season as the Saskatoon Blades (44-13-4-1) host the Prince Albert Raiders (25-33-3-0) at SaskTel Centre for a matinee matchup.
It's the second game of a weekend home-and-home series between the two with Saskatoon winning the first 6-2 at the Art Hauser Centre Friday. Forward Conner Roulette scored his second hat-trick of the season, while fellow linemate Jake Chiasson recorded three points.
NHL draft-eligible goalie Austin Elliott turned in an awesome 24-save performance Friday vs Prince Albert. The WHL's Goalie of the Week turned aside 24 of 26 shots to bolster his record to 23-5-3-0.
These bitter rivals have faced nine times already this season and they're not growing fond of each other as the battles continue. Saskatoon leads the season-series 7-2 and have won the last two contests in a row.
Friday's win was the Blades seventh win in a row and their 11th win in 12 games. Sitting at 93 points with six games left, Saskatoon could crack the 100-point mark for the fifth time in franchise history.
Who to Watch
Forward Misha Volotovskii returned to the lineup Friday vs the Raiders after being out since Feb. 5th due to an injury. The Calgary, AB. native scored in his first game back to make it 6-2 before second intermission. The second-year Blade has four goals this season, three coming against the Raiders. Volotovskii is one of the team's most reliable defensive forwards and is four shy of 100 career WHL games.
Dallas Stars prospect Conner Roulette scored goals 22,23, and 24 of the campaign Friday at the Art Hauser Centre. The former Seattle Thunderbird tied his career-high in goals set last year with the performance, achieving so in nine less games. The Winnipeg, MB. native is amongst the top scorers on the Blades with 59 points in 54 games, seven shy of last year's career best.
Edmonton Oilers draft pick Jake Chiasson has 12 points in his last 11 games. The Abbotsford, BC. product put up one goal and two assists last time out, giving him his first 20-goal season and 54 points in 65 games. Since being acquired by the Blue and Gold from the Brandon Wheat Kings on Jan. 10th, the 6-foot-2 playmaker has 26 points in 27 contests.
