WINNIPEG M.B. - The Brandon Wheat Kings solid effort was still not enough as the Winnipeg ICE once again defeat the Wheat Kings by a score of_____
The first period was back and fourth but the ICE opened up the scoring at the midway mark. After Anthony Wilson took a penalty in his own zone the ICE powerplay would go to work with Connor McClennon scoring off a one-time shot beating Carson Bjarnason to make it 1-0.
The seond frame the Wheat Kings were the better team effort wise but it was the ICE who got all the bounces. ICE goaltender Daniel Hauser made numerous big saves to keep the Wheat Kings off the scoresheet after 40 minutes of play. The ICE got big bounces scoring 3 goals. Evan Friesen off the rush made it 2-0. Zach Ostapchuk on the powerplay tipping a Connor McClennon shot to make it 3-0 and with only 1:21 remaining Carson Lambos would fire a wrist shot which Carson Bjarnason would stop but Owen Pederson buried the rebound to make it 4-0 ICE.
The Wheat Kings would finally solve Daniel Hauser in the early part of the third period with Nate Danielson collecting a loose puck in the crease cutting the lead to only 3 goals, but in the end the ICE would hold off a potential Wheat Kings comeback to give the ICE a 4-1 win. The Prince Albert Raiders victory today also meant that the Winnipeg ICE clinched 1st place in the Eastern Conference.
