Adirondack Thunder News Release

WHO: Adirondack Thunder (30-20-3-3) vs. Wheeling Nailers (28-22-5-0)

WHAT: ECHL REGULAR SEASON GAME #735

WHEN: Sunday, February 25, 2018 @ 3:00 PM

WHERE: Cool Insuring Arena - Glens Falls, NY

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: The Adirondack Thunder conclude a four games in five days stretch this afternoon as they host the Wheeling Nailers at Cool Insuring Arena. The Thunder enter tonight's action after a 3-2 overtime victory last evening over the Reading Royals on home ice.

WORKING OVERTIME: Last night's win saw the Adirondack Thunder play more than the scheduled sixty minutes for the third consecutive game. The Thunder suffered defeats on Wednesday and Friday before they rebounded to triumph in overtime last evening. Adirondack is now 4-3 in overtime games this season and, combined with shootout games, is 7-6 in games that extend past regulation.

JAME WINNING GOAL: Adirondack forward James Henry scored the game-winning goal 2:26 into overtime to extend the Thunder's point streak to four games. Henry's tally marked the first overtime goal of his ECHL career, as well as his 12th overall game-winning goal. The 5-9 forward leads all Thunder skaters this season with 45 points (17-28-45) and is the only player to appear in all 56 games.

DES DOES IT AGAIN: Thunder defenseman Desmond Bergin opened the scoring for the second straight game as he scored his 12th goal of the season early in the second period. Bergin's tally moved him into a tie for fourth in the ECHL in goals by a defenseman, two shy of the league lead. The Natick, MA native has amassed 35 points (12-23-35) from 49 games played this season, the most amongst all Adirondack blueliners.

TROY MEETS WORLD: The Thunder received reinforcements last evening as forward Troy Bourke returned to the lineup. Bourke extended his point streak, which dates back to opening night in October, to seven games with a goal in the second period. The 5-10 center has now amassed 13 points (4-9-13) from seven games played this season, good for a 1.86 points-per-game pace.

THIS IS HOW WE DREW IT: Adirondack goaltender Drew Fielding returned to winning ways as he stopped 26 of the 28 shots he saw to earn his 13th victory of the season. Fielding, who also earned his first assist of the season on Henry's game-winning goal, has posted a 5-1-0 record in eight appearances against Reading this season, to compliment a .933 save percentage against his former team.

SELLOUT SZN: The Adirondack Thunder set a franchise record last evening with an over-capacity crowd of 5,445 in the building for the win against Reading. The attendance broke the existing franchise record of 5,135, set a season ago against the Brampton Beast. The 5,445 fans are the most at any Adirondack hockey game since April 14, 2014 as 5,586 watched the final game in Adirondack Phantoms history.
