Isotopes Thump Bees in Series Opener

The Isotopes (30-31) recorded a season-high 18 hits Friday night and scored in seven of nine innings on way to an 11-1 victory over the Salt Lake Bees (34-28) in the series opener at Smith's Ballpark.

Six Isotopes produced multi-hit games led by Jordan Patterson who went 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored. The four-hit game was Patterson's first of the season and he now ranks second on the team in RBI with 37 on the year.

Left fielder Rosell Herrera finished the night 3-for-6 with his second home run of the season and was a triple away from hitting for the cycle. Cristhian Adames also homered in the contest, launching a solo shot to center in the fourth inning. Noel Cuevas stayed hot at the plate, collecting three singles to extend his hitting streak to 10 games.

Barry Enright had an excellent night on the mound, limiting the Bees to one run and four hits for his third win with Albuquerque. The right-hander did not issue a walk in 6.2 innings and retired 15 of the first 16 batters he faced. Salt Lake's Nolan Fontana ended Enright's shutout bid with a solo home run in the seventh inning. Carlos Estevez, Jairo Diaz and Jerry Vasto closed out the Isotopes victory with 2.1 scoreless innings of relief.

The Isotopes and Bees continue their three-game series Saturday evening from Smith's Ballpark. Matt Flemer (2-5, 7.76) will toe the rubber for Albuquerque while Salt Lake has right-hander Luis Diaz (1-3, 8.00) tabbed as its starter. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.?
