Texas Rangers Recall INF Jurickson Profar

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Texas Rangers announced Friday afternoon that INF Jurickson Profar has been recalled to the major league club. The infielder is listed as the starting third baseman for the Rangers tonight as the team opens a three-game series against the Washington Nationals.

Profar returns to the Rangers for the second time in 2017 after appearing on the team's Opening Day roster. The infielder played in 15 games during his first stint in Arlington, where he compiled a .135 average (5-37) with three RBI. He made starts at first base, second base, shortstop and left field before being optioned to Round Rock on May 1.

During his time with the Express this year, the Curacao native batted .267 (35-131) with a pair of homers and 20 RBI. The versatile infielder was primarily used at shortstop but recorded starts at first base, second base, left field and designated hitter.

His start tonight marks the 200th of his major league career. He is a lifetime .276 hitter (455-1649) with 115 doubles, 17 triples, 42 homers and 221 RBI at the major league level. He appeared in 85 games with the Rangers in 2013 and another 90 last season.

The Express open a four-game homestand against the Oklahoma City Dodgers tonight at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark tonight at 7:05 p.m. Rehabbing Rangers RHP Tyson Ross (2-0, 5.27) is set to face off against Dodgers RHP Justin Masterson (3-3, 3.97).
