PROMOTION: School Day Game - All Central Florida K-12 schools are invited to spend the morning with Orlando's professional hockey team in a field trip atmosphere, where students will enjoy a unique educational experience while witnessing the fast-paced action of live ice hockey. Students will receive hockey-related educational materials that are consistent with STEM standards and cover math, science, geography and more.
TODAY: The Orlando Solar Bears (5-3-1-0) host their annual School Day Game against the Jacksonville Icemen (6-1-0-0). This is the second meeting of 12 total games this season between the Solar Bears and Icemen.
PEDERSEN FLYING HIGH: Rookie forward Brent Pedersen enters today's game in the midst of a five-game point streak. Pedersen has collected seven points (3g-4a) over that span, and posted consecutive multi-point efforts last week against Greenville.
BOURKE SET TO PLAY 250TH CAREER GAME: Forward Troy Bourke will play in his 250th career pro game this afternoon. The bulk of his career has been spent within the Colorado Avalanche and Tampa Bay Lightning development systems. Bourke recorded a pair of assists in each of his first two games with Orlando after joining the Solar Bears last week.
TAKE THE LEAD: Both Orlando and Jacksonville own 4-0-0-0 records when leading after the second period. Today's game will require a full 60-minute effort for Orlando to take the win and maintain its current five-game point streak (4-0-1-0).
BEREHOWSKY CLOSING IN ON CENTURY MARK: With 97 career wins behind the bench of the Solar Bears, Drake Berehowsky is already the winningest head coach in the team's ECHL tenure. He is only three wins away from joining former IHL Solar Bears bench boss Curt Fraser as the second head coach of a professional hockey team in Orlando to reach the century mark in coaching wins.
NEXT GAME: The Solar Bears head north to begin a five-game road trip, starting with their first meeting of the season with the South Carolina Stingrays on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 7:05 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum.
