Rapid City Rush News Release
(RAPID CITY, SD) - The Rapid City Rush invite all fans friends to attend our annual "Military Appreciation Night" game, which is set for Saturday, November 10th, at 7:05 p.m. against the Fort Wayne Komets
The festivities for the annual contest honoring our proud nation's military begin with our third annual ice painting event on Thursday, November 8th, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Ice Arena. As in years past, names of loved ones that served, or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces, can be painted on the ice by fans. The end product will have all names displayed from goal line to goal line in a manner resembling the flag of the United States of America.
Saturday's game against Fort Wayne will see the Rush wear specialty jerseys, presented by Diamond Roofing, which will be auctioned off following the game. Prior to the game, the largest flag in the state of South Dakota, provided by Camping World, will be on display from blue line to blue line. Additionally, in a special pregame ceremony, the team will honor Specialist Four Michael J. Fitzmaurice of the United States Army, who was awarded the Medal of Honor for "conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty" during the Vitenam War, per his Medal of Honor citation. Both Sp4c. Fitzmaurice and his wife Patty will be recognized before the start of the game.
For more information regarding this week's three-game series against the Fort Wayne Komets, which starts tomorrow, November 7th, at 7:05 p.m. at Premier Home Mortgage Ice in Rushmore Plaza Civic Center, or our "Military Appreciation Night" game on Saturday, November 10th, call the Rush office at 716-7825.
