No Place Like Home: The Mavericks enter play tonight as one of just three teams in the ECHL who are perfect on home ice. Kansas City is 4-0 at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena and is joined in home ice perfection by Toledo (3-0) and South Carolina (2-0).
Trending Up: The Mavericks are near the top of the league in goals for (4th - 3.71/game), goals against (5th - 2.57/game), shots for (7th - 33.57/game) and shots against (1st - 27.00/game). Kansas City has also outscored its opponent (cumulative scoring) in each period this season and has outshot its opposition in all but the third frame.
Super Cooper: Mark Cooper is coming off a fantastic weekend in which he totaled five points (2g, 3a) and a plus-4 rating in two home wins, notching a pair of game-winning, overtime goals against divisional opponents. Coop is tied for the team lead in scoring with 11 points and is the Mavs' leader in goals with five.
Climbing The Mountain: The Mavericks currently stand fourth in the Mountain Division by point total but trail leader Utah by just two points with two games in hand. The Mavs have started the season with six divisional games in seven games played and own a record of 4-1-1 against Mountain opponents.
Matchup To Watch: Mavs power play against Allen penalty kill. Last time these two teams got together the Mavs' special teams unit struck twice en route to a 5-1 win on opening night. Kansas City has cooled since, going 2-for-24 in its previous six games, while Allen owns the league's fifth-best penalty kill unit operating at a 90-percent clip.
