
Steelheads Receive Calderone and Point from Texas

BOISE, Idaho - The Texas Stars (AHL) have assigned forward Tony Calderone to the Idaho Steelheads, and the Dallas Stars (NHL) have assigned goaltender Colton Point to the Steelheads, Steelheads Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham announced on Tuesday.
Calderone, 24, played six games with AHL Texas this season, scoring one goal with four penalty minutes. The Trenton, Mich., native made his professional debut with the Stars on Apr. 11, 2018 against Grand Rapids and scored his first professional goal three days later on Apr. 14, 2018 against San Antonio. The 6-foot, 200-pound forward played four seasons with the University of Michigan and was named captain his senior season, tallying 25 goals and 20 assists for 45 points with a plus-14 rating through 40 games in 2017-18. In his four seasons, Calderone added 54 goals and 38 assists for 92 points through 134 games while being named 2017-18 Big 10 Second All-Star Team selection and helping lead the team to a 2016 Big 10 Championship.
Point, 20, played five games with AHL Texas, recording a 1-3-0 record with a 3.96 goals-against average and a .854 save percentage. The North Bay, Ont., product was selected 128th overall (5th Round) by the Dallas Stars in the 2016 NHL Draft prior to his first season at Colgate University. Last season, the 6-foot-4, 220-pound goaltender posted a 16-12-5 record with a 1.74 goals-against average and a .944 save percentage with six shutouts through 33 games in his sophomore season and was a Hobey Baker Award Finalist. Point also earned a gold medal at the U20 World Junior Championships with Team Canada.
Calderone and Point will both be available for this week's games. The Steelheads open their six-game home stand tomorrow night.
