Quick Hits:
Production Not Tayl-Ing Off:
Forward Justin Taylor scored in all four games last week, giving him eight goals in nine games this season. Taylor's eight tallies is currently tied for second most in the ECHL, behind Utah's Caleb Herbert. The forward is one of three players with eight goals this season. The current four-game scoring streak is the third longest in Taylor's career. The longest came during the 2015-16 season when he tallied in seven straight games.
Special Teams Night:
Sunday's power play goal was the first one in the last four games or 21 attempts for the K-Wings snapping a skid that dated back to Oct. 26 in Cincinnati. It was also only the second game this season that Kalamazoo had scored on the man-advantage.
On the flip side the Kalamazoo penalty kill continued to generate offense as the K-Wings netted their fourth short-handed goal of the season. Kalamazoo is one of only three teams to have recorded four short-handed goals this season, joining Orlando and Indy. In comparison, the K-Wings only scored five short-handed goals all of last season.
Mr. 600:
Friday night defenseman Kyle Bushee played in his 600th career ECHL game. The Otsego, MI native is only the 9th player in ECHL history to complete the feat. After playing two more games last weekend Bushee now sits eighth all-time in ECHL history in games played. The defenseman should move into seventh place before the end of the 2018-19 season. Bushee is in his third season with the K-Wings.
