Kansas City Mavericks News Release

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - The Kansas City Mavericks (6-1-1-0) pushed their win streak to four with a 4-1 win over the Allen Americans (3-7-1-0) Tuesday night at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena.

Jared VanWormer led the way in the win, adding two goals and an assist in the offensive onslaught. Mason McDonald also turned away 26 shots in the contest.

After a scoreless first, the Mavericks seized control in the second period with a pair of goals. The first came off the stick of VanWormer off a nice feed from Mark Cooper, VanWormer beating goalie C.J. Motte blocker side for a 1-0 edge.

With the Mavs on the penalty kill, C.J. Eick extended his goal-scoring streak to two games with a beautiful finish on an odd-man rush, snapping a wrister past Motte's glove to double the cushion to two goals to none.

The home team put the game out of reach midway through the third period, VanWormer scoring his second of the night on a deflection on a shot from Nate Widman to seize a 3-0 lead and full command of the contest.

Robertson scored to boost the lead to 4-1 with just minutes remaining, but an Allen goal with 10 seconds remaining stole the shutout bid from McDonald.

The Mavericks and Americans will head south for a pair of contests in Texas this weekend on Friday and Saturday, and KC returns home for a Kids Day Game date with Wichita on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 10:35 a.m. A limited supply of single-game tickets are still available for the contest.
