Game Preview: New England Revolution at New York Red Bulls

August 16, 2019 - Major League Soccer (MLS) - New England Revolution News Release

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution (9-9-7, 34 pts.) will travel southbound on I-95 to face the New York Red Bulls (11-10-4, 37 pts.), on Saturday, Aug. 17 at Red Bull Arena. The match kicks off at 7:00 p.m. ET, televised locally on NBC Sports Boston with Brad Feldman, Paul Mariner, and Naoko Funayama calling the action. Authenticated subscribers may also stream the match on and on the NBC Sports Boston app. The match airs on the radio locally with 98.5 The Sports Hub broadcasting the action in English, and 1260 AM Nossa Radio providing Portuguese commentary.

After battling the Seattle Sounders to a 3-3 draw last Saturday, the Revolution are now unbeaten in six straight away matches (3-0-3), equaling a club record set in 2008. In Seattle, Carles Gil tallied a goal and an assist for the fourth time in five games, drawing him one goal shy of becoming the second Revolution player ever to reach double digits in both goals and assists in a season. Meanwhile, fellow newcomer Gustavo Bou recorded his third goal through his first five MLS matches. With the three total strikes at CenturyLink Field, the Revolution have scored multiple goals in five straight games away from home and in seven road games overall, tied for the league's second-highest total in 2019.

On Saturday, the Revolution will be backed by about 500 traveling Season Members as the club looks to complete the regular season sweep of the Red Bulls, in addition to a 3-2 victory in the U.S. Open Cup on June 11 in Montclair, N.J. The Revs last beat New York twice in the same regular season in 2015. New England is 31-27-15 in the all-time series, but has yet to win in the regular season at Red Bull Arena. The contest will see a number of notable connections, including Head Coach Bruce Arena, who managed the Red Bulls from 2006-07.

Following Saturday's match, New England will return home for another Eastern Conference matchup against the Chicago Fire on Saturday, Aug. 24 at Gillette Stadium. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET and will air on NBC Sports Boston, 98.5 The Sports Hub, and 1260 AM Nossa Radio.
