Game Preview: New England Revolution at Chicago Fire

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution (6-4-4, 22 pts.) are back on the road for a match against the Chicago Fire (5-7-2; 17 pts.) at Toyota Park on Saturday evening. The match kicks off at 8:30 p.m. ET and will be televised locally on NBC Sports Boston with Brad Feldman and Paul Mariner on the call. Authenticated subscribers may stream the match on NBCSportsBoston.com and on the NBC Sports app. The contest also airs on the radio with 98.5 The Sports Hub broadcasting the action in English and 1260 AM Nossa Radio providing Portuguese commentary.

Saturday's contest will be the first of two meetings between the Revolution and the Fire in 2018, with the second match scheduled for Sept. 22 at Gillette Stadium. In their last MLS meeting on Aug. 5, 2017, the Fire defeated the Revolution, 4-1, at Toyota Park. Teal Bunbury enters this weekend's match as New England's leading scorer with eight goals in the club's last 11 games, including four in the last five. Bunbury has two career goals and two assists in 18 regular season games against the Fire.

Following Saturday's match, the Revs will travel directly to San Jose to prepare for a midweek meeting with the San Jose Earthquakes. That match will take place at Avaya Stadium on Wednesday, June 13 with kickoff scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET, and will be broadcast locally on NBC Sports Boston, 98.5 The Sports Hub, and 1260 AM Nossa Radio.

New England tallying at least two goals for the ninth time through the club's first 15 matches. The Revs are 5-1-2 when scoring at least two go.

Forward Teal Bunbury finding the net for the ninth time in the club's last 12 games. Bunbury has scored in eight-of-11 games dating back to March 31 at Houston.

Forward Cristian Penilla scoring one away goal to become the sixth MLS player to record at least three goals and three assists on the road in 2018.

There are a few notable connections between the Revolution and Chicago:

o Revolution defender Jalil Anibaba was drafted ninth-overall by the Chicago Fire in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft. With Chicago, he made 98 total appearances, 94 starts, scored four goals, and notched five assists from 2011-13.

o Revolution forward Krisztián Németh and Fire forward Nemanja Nikoli? have both represented the Hungary National Team. Németh has scored four international goals for Hungary, while Nikoli? tallied six goals in his senior career.

o Revolution forward Juan Agudelo and Fire midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger faced off in an international friendly on June 10, 2015. Both players saw 45 minutes of action for the United States and Germany, respectively.

o Revolution assistant coach Mike Lapper coached Fire assistant coach Eric Gehrig in Columbus from 2011-13 when Gehrig was a defender for the Crew.
