TONIGHT:
The Ontario Reign (12-8-0-2) play their third straight match at home this season - the longest home-stand thus far in the 2014-15 campaign. Ontario's opponent this evening is the Bakersfield Condors (11-9-1-2). This is the fifth meeting of the season between these two clubs. This is the first match of a home-and-home series against Bakersfield, as the teams will square off tomorrow evening at Rabobank Arena.
WHITE KNIGHT:
Matt White played the role of hero on Saturday expertly for Ontario, kickstarting Ontario's offensive surge with the Teddy Bear Toss goal, then adding an additional goal and assist. The outburst came for White at a critical time, as he had already gone 10 games without a goal and three without an assist prior to Saturday's match.
WALKER STEPS UP:
Geoff Walker also broke a nine-game scoreless drought on Saturday, as he chipped in a goal and added an assist after going three games without a helper.
NO WINQUIST BENEATH CONDORS' WINGS:
Josh Winquist leads the Condors in scoring against the Reign this season with six points (3g-3a), but Bakersfield will be without his services tonight. The rookie forward was called up to Oklahoma City on Dec. 4, so Ontario will likely focus its efforts on twin brothers Connor Jones (2g-1a) and Kellen Jones (0g-3a). Both are first and fourth, respectively, in the rookie scoring race.
GOALS FOR AVERAGE CLIMBING:
With back-to-back 5-3 decisions over the past weekend, Ontario's goals-for average now sits at 3.00 goals scored per game, good for 15th in the league. If the top two lines can consistently produce each game, that will spell great things for the Reign.
