Game Preview

Tonight will be the first of two meetings this season between the Kalamazoo Wings and the Gwinnett Gladiators. Both encounters this season will occur at Wings Stadium. After this season, the teams will square off again on Wednesday, February 18th.

After splitting a pair of games on the road, Kalamazoo will return home to commence a brief two-game home stand. The K-Wings have had their struggles at home. Kalamazoo hits the ice looking to snap a seven-game (0-6-0-1) home winless streak.

While the K-Wings woes have occurred at home, the Gladiators issues have been on the road. Gwinnett is 2-7-0-0 away from home this season. However, the Gladiators snapped a six-game road losing streak last night with 4-3 overtime victory against the Toledo Walleye at the Huntington Center.

Reaching a Milestone

Shut Down

Saturday marked the second time this season that the K-Wings have been shutout. The shutout also marked the 10th time in the team's ECHL history (2009-present) and the 100th time overall (1974-present) that the K-Wings were held to no goals.

Dishing to Out Defenseman Sacha Guimond has been lending a "helping" hand to the K-Wings offense. Guimond, who leads the team with 14 assists, is currently tied for second among all ECHL defensemen in helpers.

Ending a Streak

The K-Wings enter the week trying to snap a seven-game (0-6-0-1) home winless streak. The seven-game streak is tied for the longest home winning drought in team history.

Solid Debut

Last night marked the head coaching debut of Andy Brandt. Brandt, who was named the team's interim head coach last week, was behind the bench during the Gladiators 4-3 overtime victory over Toledo.

Welcome Back Gwinnett forward Bobby Hughes returned to the Gladiators lineup yesterday in grand fashion. Hughes, who has been injured since October 29th, earned an assist in regulation and recorded the game-winner in overtime to help the Gladiators snap a three-game (0-2-1-0) overall winless streak and a six-game (0-6-0-0) road losing streak.

Potent in the Second The Gladiators best scoring period this season has been the second period. Gwinnett has outscored their opposition 19-17 in the middle frame.

End of the Road Tonight marks the final game of a four-game road trip for Gwinnett. The Gladiators, who are currently 1-2-1-0 during the swing, are 2-7-0-0 this season away from the Arena at Gwinnett Center.
