Evansville Otters News Release

EVANSVILLE, IN- After dropping two out of three in their last three series, the Evansville Otters (20-13) look to get back on track against the visiting Frontier Greys (15-16) in Game One of their three game series starting tonight at 6:35 pm CDT.

In their last outing at home, the Otters had an early 2-0 lead, but two costly errors by the Otters, one in the second inning by Josh Allen, and one by Nik Balog in the fifth, led to four unearned runs for the Traverse City Beach Bums as the Beach Bums pulled away with a 4-2 victory at Bosse Field.

Chris Sweeney had an RBI double in the game, but after the Otters scored their two runs in the bottom of the first, they were held scoreless the rest of the way by four different Beach Bum arms. The Otters have scored just two runs in their last two games (16 innings), but the pitching has been keeping them in games, allowing just two earned runs over their last 23 innings while the defense has been shaky, committing four errors in their last two games, leading to five unearned runs.

The man that will attempt to right the ship for the Otters is Preston Olson (4-1, 2.94 ERA). He last pitched on June 17th against Windy City where he received his first no decision of the season while going six innings on the mound. He allowed nine hits and five runs, but just two of them earned, picking up four strikeouts and walking just a pair of batters in an Otters 6-5 loss.

Opposing him for the Frontier Greys will be Eric Kline (0-1, 17.60). Kline was the starter for the Greys back on June 17th against the Schaumburg Boomers when he picked up his first loss of the season, He was unable to make it out of the fourth inning, going 3.2 innings pitched while giving up eight runs (all earned) to go along with ten hits and striking out three and walking three.

The evening game's first pitch is slotted for 6:35 pm CDT with the pregame show of Mike Radomski, Bill McKeon, and Jake Donnelly starting at 6:15 pm CDT. Tomorrow's game is the first home game day of the season for the Otters as they will take the field for first pitch at 12:05 pm CDT.
