Big Night: Mauricio Dubon went 4-for-5 last night and scored four runs in San Antonio's 6-4 victory. His first hit, a single up the middle in the first inning, was his first hit since sustaining a torn ACL on May 5, 2018 at Oklahoma City. Dubon's four hits and four runs were both tied for his second most as a professional. The four hits were his most since joining the Brewers organization. Dubon became the first Missions player to score four runs in a game since Fernando Tatis Jr. did so on May 22, 2018 at Tulsa.
Timely Tyrone: Last night's ninth inning home run from Tyrone Taylor lifted the Missions past the Didgers 6-4. Of his 20 home runs in 2018, eight of them came in the seventh inning or later.
K's for Days: The Missions were fanned 18 times in last night's victory. The 18 strikeouts were tied for the most in a game by San Antonio since MLBAM began tracking stats in 2005. The other two times came in extra inning affairs, May 23, 2017 against Tulsa (14 innings) and June 2, 2012 at Arkansas (13 innings). Keston Hiura has struck out three times in all three games this season. He had struck out three times in a game just three times in his career before this season. Last night Corey Ray was punched out five times to set a career-high. On the young season Missions hitters have been fanned 44 times, which is eight more than any other team in the league through three games.
Down to Four: The Missions are one of four teams to have had their starters work at least five innings in each of the first three games. The others are New Orleans, Salt Lake, and Las Vegas. San Antonio starters Adrian Houser and Bubba Derby each lasted five innings while last night's starter, Zack Brown went six. Today's starter, Aaron Wilkerson went at least five innings in 11 of his 13 starts between Tripe-A Colorado Springs and Milwaukee last season.
