YESTERDAY: The Indians led 6-1 through four innings before the Bisons scored 13 unanswered runs to hand the Tribe a 14-6 defeat on Wednesday, tied for Indy's worst loss of the season (also: 8-0 vs. Louisville on May 5). Buffalo had 27 total baserunners (16 hits, 11 walks) against Indy, both season highs in hits and walks surrendered by the Tribe pitching staff. The Bisons scored six times in the sixth to turn a 6-2 deficit into an 8-6 lead, and they added one in the eighth and five more in the ninth to run away with the series win. Socrates Brito led Buffalo's offense with a 4-for-5, five-RBI performance, including a solo homer that capped the six-run sixth. Indy plated its first two runs in the third on a Kevin Kramer two-out, bases-loaded single. The Tribe then pushed four more across the plate in the fourth. JB Shuck tripled home a run, Eric Wood grounded an RBI single into right-center and Cole Tucker lined a run-scoring double into the left field corner. Cam Vieaux took a no-decision after allowing two runs on five hits and a career-high tying five walks with six strikeouts in 5.0 innings pitched. Indy's bullpen combined to give up 12 runs (11 earned) on 11 hits and six walks in four innings of work.

FIRST THINGS FIRST: The Indians have gone 20 consecutive games without scoring a run in the first inning. During that stretch, the Tribe offense has gone 1-2-3 11 times, put one runner on base seven times and two runners on just twice. Indy has had just 11 total baserunners in the first inning during the 20-game drought. The last first inning where Indy put runs on the scoreboard came on May 23 at Louisville in an 8-7 win.

THE GOOD: After falling below .500 at 15-16 following a loss on May 8 at Scranton/WB, the Indians have gone 20-12 to surge seven games over .500 at 35-28. The Tribe have gained two games in the standings during the stretch, going from 3.5 games out to just 1.5 games back of Columbus.

THE BAD: The Indians have lost five of their last six games after entering play on June 7 in Toledo with the International League's best record at 34-23. Indy's toughest stretch of the season came in late April, when the Tribe lost six out of seven games from April 19-26. They lost 2 of 3 to Louisville at The Vic, were swept in 3 games at Gwinnett and dropped a series opener at Charlotte before breaking out of the slump.

AND THE UGLY: Pittsburgh's injury bug at the major league level has trickled to Indianapolis over the last two days. In the late innings of the series opener against Buffalo, Tribe third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes dislocated his left index finger when diving for a grounder in the 6-hole, landing him on the 7-day injured list this afternoon. Then in the first inning yesterday, Indians left fielder Pablo Reyes made a leaping attempt on fly ball at the wall but strained his left hamstring on the play, forcing him to leave the game and also landing him on the 7-day injured list today. The Indians have 23 active players for tonight's series finale -- 21 counting against their 25-man roster and two MLB rehabs, pitchers Trevor Williams and Chris Stratton.

NEW KID ON THE BLOCK: With the aforementioned IL stints for Hayes and Reyes, OF Logan Hill joined the Tribe today from Double-A Altoona. The 26-year-old was batting .284 (61-for-215) with four homers, two triples, 19 doubles and 36 RBI in 60 games for the Curve. The Pensacola, Fla. native was selected by the Pirates in the 25th round (757th overall) in the 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of Troy University.

TREVOR TIME: RHP Trevor Williams will make a major league rehab start for Indy tonight, becoming the 12th player to appear for the Tribe on a rehab assignment this season. Williams made Pittsburgh's Opening Day roster for a third consecutive season and picked up where he left off in 2018, going 2-1 with a 3.33 ERA (20er/54.0ip) in nine starts for the Buccos. He was placed on the 10-day injured list on May 17 with a right side strain. The California native threw eight straight starts of 6.0-plus innings before exiting his May 16 outing at San Diego after just 3.2 innings pitched. In 2018, Williams posted a 14-10 record and 2.70 ERA (59er/170.2ip) in 31 starts for Pittsburgh and was the only major league pitcher to make 10 starts of at least 6.0 innings without allowing a run. He last pitched for the Tribe in 2016, a year in which he went 9-6 with a 2.53 ERA (31er/110.1ip) in 20 games (19 starts) and was named Indianapolis' Team MVP and Team Player Award winner. He also made his major league debut on Sept. 7, 2016 vs. St. Louis and earned the win with 3.0 innings of relief in a 5-3 Pirates victory.

STAVE OFF THE SWEEP: Since rejoining the International League in 1998, the Indians have been swept by the Bisons just three total times. The first occurrence was a four-game sweep at Victory Field in 1999, the second was a three-game sweep at Buffalo in 2003 and the third was a three-game sweep at Victory Field in 2016. Indy has only swept Buffalo once, doing so in 2015 on the road.
