Two in a row?
Why not?
Saturday's win was crazy, no two ways about it. Up 4-1 going into the third with a big chance to prove that they could hang onto a lead, something that the team had struggled with and VP/GM/HC Mike Johnston said he wanted his club to improve upon. We know that didn't happen, but the team did win and there were positive qualities from it. Now the Hawks conclude their mini "playoff series" against Spokane tonight with an opportunity to showcase that they are the better team.
Will it come with playoff-like intensity?
We think there might be some fireworks tonight.
Things got kind of hairy at the end of Saturday's game. Two goals in the final minute by Spokane and then some extracurriculars at the final horn with a few misconducts being handed out leads us to believe that things could be dicey again tonight. We know how playoff series' go - two teams don't like each other after seeing each other so many times consecutively. The two teams don't meet again until May 8, so we shall see what transpires this evening.
A milestone?
Happy 200, Mr. Mannek.
Tonight will be the 200th game of Mason Mannek's outstanding Western Hockey League career. What a ride it's been here in Portland for the Utah native, who has consistently produced and is experiencing some serious production this season. Mason's been an outstanding representative of the Winterhawks organization both on and off the ice and we appreciate all he has brought to the table over the last few years. Have a night, Mason!
Fans can catch the action online tonight on the new WHL Live on CHL TV platform all in HD, and listen live on the Winterhawks Radio Network presented by Toyota.
