Chiefs Complete Comeback at Everett Tuesday Night
April 14, 2021 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Spokane Chiefs News Release
Everett, Wash. -- Spokane Chiefs centerman Eli Zummack capped off a four-point night on Tuesday with the game-winning short handed goal as the Chiefs came back from an early two-goal deficit to win 4-3.
Coming out of the first intermission trailing 2-0, the Chiefs didn't wait long to begin mounting their comeback. Just 31 seconds into the second period, Adam Beckman deked Silvertips goaltender Dustin Wolf from the slot and skated around him to slide one home, extending Beckman's goal streak to five games and cutting the Everett lead in half at 2-1. Following an Everett answer that pushed their lead to 3-1, rookie Spokane winger Copeland Fricker scored his first career Western Hockey League goal--the third Chief to do so within a 25-minute window dating back to Saturday vs. Portland--at 4:41 to bring Spokane back within one of Everett at 3-2.
Spokane's veteran forwards shined in the final period as Beckman connected for his second marker of the night 2:51 into the third period when he took an Eli Zummack pass and streaked past the Everett defense before snapping one by Wolf from the top of the right circle. Nearly five minutes later, Zummack picked up his second third period short-handed goal in as many games, putting the Chiefs on top 4-3. Defenseman Raegan Wiles also contributed two assists on the night.
The Chiefs held the Silvertips 0-for-4 on power play chances for the night, and rookie netminder Mason Beaupit had a strong performance between the pipes, stopping 32-of-35 Everett shots.

The Chiefs travel south to the Rose City Wednesday night as they take on the Portland Winterhawks for the third time in six days. Puck drop is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on WHL Live, and over the radio waves on 103.5 FM The Game.
