November 20, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Belleville Senators News Release

The set-up

The Belleville Senators will do battle with the AHL's best team over the next two days in the Charlotte Checkers.

Belleville (8-9-0-0) won the week last week as they won two of its three contests and now sit fifth in the North Division. The Sens are 5-5 in their last 10 contests and have won just two of its six road games early on this season.

Charlotte (13-1-1-0) hold the best record in the AHL and sit atop the Atlantic Division. Their 64 goals are tied for the third most in the league while their 46 goals against ranks inside the top 10. Oddly, the Checkers have only played four home games this seaso, going 3-1-0-0.

Roster notes

No new roster moves from the Sens ahead of tonight's contest so head coach Troy Mann has the same squad at his disposal from the weekend.

Filip Gustavsson and Jake Paterson are the only healthy goaltenders so Mann will have to decide how to play them this week, baring in mind Belleville plays Saturday in Utica too.

Goaltenders Mike Condon and Marcus Hogberg and forward Andrew Sturtz didn't travel.

Previous history

The Checkers won three of four last season against Belleville including the first three before the Sens finally broke the goose egg in the final match-up. The two teams will face twice at CAA Arena Jan. 4 and 5.

Who to watch

Sens forward Adam Tambellini has points in his last two games and has 12 points this season, tied for second most on the team. His seven goals are tied for a team high.

Second year pro Janne Kuokkanen is having a big sophmore year as he's tied for the Charlotte lead in points with 19 (eight goals). His 19 points are tied for the ninth most in the AHL, a place he holds with teammate Andrew Poturalski.
