TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: The Thunder conclude their eight-game road trip tonight with the final of three games in Utah against the Grizzlies. The Thunder earned themselves a 2-1 victory last evening, setting up tonight's rubber match. Adirondack is currently 4-2-0-1 in seven games away from Glens Falls, culminating with their series against the Grizzlies this weekend.
BACK-TO-BACK BEAUTIES: The Adirondack Thunder are entering the second game of a back-to-back for the fifth time already this season with tonight's action. The Thunder are 3-1-0-0 in such scenarios to date. A season ago, Adirondack was amongst the best in the ECHL with an 18-9-2 record in the second and third games in back-to-back scenarios, good for 38 points.
BABY GOT MAC: Adirondack Thunder Captain Peter MacArthur picked up the game-winning goal last night as he extended his goal scoring streak to two games. The 5-10 winger converted midway through the second period off of a feed from James Henry and now has three goals and seven points on the season. MacArthur finished third on the team in points (8-28-36) a season ago.
KEN DO ATTITUDE: Adirondack goaltender Ken Appleby picked up his fourth victory in six starts with the Thunder last night, as he turned aside 24 of the 25 shots he faced in the win. Appleby has posted a 1.98 goals against average and a .915 save percentage this season, with this GAA ranking fourth in the ECHL. The second-year pro is also one of 16 ECHL goaltenders this season to post a shutout.
DO THE MATH-IEU: Defenseman Mathieu Brodeur continues to lead the offensive attack from the blueline, as he picked up another assist in last evening's victory. The 6-6 defenseman now has 11 points (3-8-11) in ten games on the season, tops amongst all Thunder defensemen and tied for fifth league-wide. A season ago, Brodeur was tied with Patch Alber for the lead on the Adirondack blueline with 30 points (9-21-30).
THE BIG FALKOVSKY: Adirondack defenseman Stepan Falkovsky found the back of the net last night for the second goal of his professional career. Falkovsky tied the game for the Thunder just 72 seconds into the middle stanza, off of an assist from Gunnar Hughes. On the season, Falkovsky has amassed four points (2-2-4) in 14 games played, to go along with eight penalty minutes and a +2 rating.
FIGHT NIGHT: Adirondack and Utah each picked up three fighting majors in last night's win, coming from Keegan Kanzig, Phil Lane and Mike Bergin. It marked just the second time this season that the Thunder have had three or more fights in a game, trailing only last Friday in Idaho, where each team racked up five fighting majors.
